That the phrase 'I am praying for you!' makes more people turn away than almost anything? Talk about condescending.

I Got purhaps a handful of insightful answers to my question but for every good answer there was a slew of those who are set against any idea of a all powerful creator. To those people i would like to say I appreciate your opinion but why? Is it so hard to believe in something you cannot see? Do you put all your good fortunes in the hands of luck because if you do then perhaps you should play the lotto. The next time you are ALMOST hit by a car or something bad ALMOST happens to you i hope you will stop and think that perhaps its not just blind luck but maybe someone is watching out for you in your time of need. Remember all the good things that happen to you but also remember that no one is that lucky. Open your eyes to the bigger truth. God is there and he is waiting for you.

Does anybody know how to do the magic trick where the magician asks a person things that only the person would know, really personal things like your mother's middle name and they ask the person to write it down, then screw it up or something and then the magician writes the answer down and gets it right, or something along those lines... my memory is hazy, or any other cool magic trick that you would like to share, but 10 points to the one who gives me that one!
Please!!!

Is it just the simple fact that there is strength in numbers? Like, more of us and less of them? Reminds me of Monty Python's 'Meaning of Life' - If any sperm is wasted, then God gets quite irrate.

Was Muhammad really a prophet of God, or
was he a tribal warrior?

Was Muhammad really a prophet of God, or
was he a pedo?

The fact that the Koran talks about so many
battles LEAD by Muhammad, and about the
many wives he married, including one wife
who wasn`t even at the age of maturity yet,
shows that Muhamad was not driven by
peace, or real love.
In the end, not even one muslim can answer
the question, "why did Muhammad marry
Aisha?", because you all know its wrong.

I recently organized an event as part of the World Wide Picnic for Peace. News coverage of it was picked up why a White Nationalist Group and lampooned on their web site.
For my part I have passed on the site name to friends and told them to look at it for a good laugh.
However, the orginator of the event has I feel been badly hurt by their rantings. How would you all deal with it?

Genesis 7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. (New King James Version)

Why is my Bible broken? There should be a translation somewhere were the cause of rain is attributed to weather patterns, clouds rain rain, not windows of heaven,

this probably says in the Hebrew that the clouds rained, then some monk made a mistake, cause surely, we all aren't really stupid enough to believe that a window of heaven opened up and caused rain, we are all intelligent enough to know where rain comes from don't we?

Is it really just a big waste of time to try to have an engaging conversation about religion or spirituality with someone who insists that a bat is a bird?

(or who comes up with flaky explanations to rationalize things like that away?)

Of course, most christians acknowledge that there are some things in the bible that are outdated and need to be understood as the writings of a primitive people by our standards (esp, the old testament).

So I'm not mocking christianity with this question.

I'm just asking about the wisdom of even trying to engage fringe fundamentalists in an intellectual discussion.

Do other christians ever get frustrated with these people?
If I were a christian, they would drive me nuts.

Do most fundalist christians (you know the ones who try and put evolution into schools and say bad stuff about gays) and churches practise the teachings of Jesus?

*he socialized with tax collecters and prostitutes and he said something like he needed to help the people who needed it
*his disciples were fisherman
*even though there were no women in his 12 disciples, he had lots of followers who were women (like the marys)

Why is that teaching Children in public schools that they came from primates and single celled blobs, perfectly legal, but God or creationism is not. It is a bit biased to say the least, yet Christians are called the bigots, while radical atheist's and evolutionists never see how they have forced us to be taught these lies

I know that it sounds stupid to imagine God in a particular physical form and it is rather defined as energy or love etc. by believers. But I believe that everyone has an image of God, for example I imagine God as a thin, elegant, very interestingly and well-dressed, kind person whose skin shines and whose eyes make you cry. I feel comfortable if I imagine God like that. What is your image?
