Christ calls Christians to do more than pray. We are called to action. Faith without works is useless. We are not to turn over to God what God has equipped us to take care of ourself. I have been asked so many times by non-believers, "If your God is so good why are there people dying of starvation." God is not inadequate. God has provided enough resources to feed, shelter and clothe the people of the world, but it is mankind that is not utilizing and dispensing those resources properly. GREED! I am a person that prays a lot, but when I am confronted by someone with problems my response is as follows - "Let us take a moment together and pray for guidance. Then we will sit down and figure out what we can do to begin the process that will solve your problem." The Christian that offers prayer without material/emotional benefits is not doing the will of God. The Christian that offers prayer alone is doing so because they are lacking in knowledge of what it means to be a Christian or THEY DO NOT WANT TO GET INVOLVED and took an easy way out - THEY ARE NOT TRULY CHRISTIANS. My friend it takes more than calling yourself a Christian to be a Christian.

Condescending? That is the best thing a believer can EVER do for someone. If I believe in God, and I pray to God for you, then I am doing you a great favor.
Besides, if you do not believe, then my praying to the 'ether' does not harm you in any way, shape, or form.

If someone tells me that they are praying for me, Christian or otherwise, I hope that they have my best interests at heart. And I trust that they are saying it because they really are concerned for my well being. If they are saying it for any other reason, than that is between them and G-d.
As long as nobody is preaching the Jeezer at me, than it is all good.

Jesus strongly disapproved of ostentatious prayer intended to impress others. It's clear from words attributed to him that he would have approved of the prayer per se but would not approve of this condescending public announcement to the non believer - "I will pray for you".
Jesus was rather cranky about flashing one's faith to impress others.

It's condescending that people are caring for you? It would be hard for us to realize such an illogical statement. Even if you don't believe that prayer works, why would it bother you that people are expending time and energy in a way that they feel is for your benefit? Please explain.

That's your opinion. To pray for someone is an act of love for another person. .

Christians are so wrapped up in their delusion they can no longer remember what it feels like to be connected to the real world.
