i read this analogy in CS Lewis' "mere christianity"....and here's what i got from it:

if we are all ships, sailing along the open sea.... instead of focusing so much on Rules and Regulations (ie, Do Not Run Into Eachother!), why don't we focus on Ourselves, taking care of our condition, making sure we have maps, having good crew and vision, *so that* we will already be in the best condition and clearest sight to NOT run into eachother...there will always be storms, but if we continue to do our best, it will be ok.

focusing on the "rules" of not bumping into eachother doesnt really help when a lot of the boats are broken down, in bad condition, don't have right tools to "see" clearly etc.....

I was at Border's Bookstore the other week and I was looking at the bibles. There are so many! I don't have one and would like one so that I can try to understand it better, but which one? There was literally 3 shelves full of different versions. Which one is the best one in your opinion?

As a non-deist I do find it offensive. It is a old, dusty hang-over from the red scare era. Roosevelt thought it was blasphemous to have God associated with our money.

Wouldn't "In Knowledge We Trust", "In Thought We Trust" or "In the Constitution We Hold Dear" be better? More universal and less divisive?

why do many christians argue that Allah is not the christian god and base their argument on the divinity of jesus, his claim to be the son of god and being the Messiah.
they acknowledge the Jewish God as the same god as the Christian god, when Judaism denies the divinity of jesus, denies his prophecy and his claim to be the son of god and the Messiah!!!
i see contradiction here!!
judaism and Islam both deny the divinity of jesus and the claim of him being the son of god.
Islam acknowledges Jesus as a prophet and messanger of god, acknowledges his miraculous birth as well is the miracles he performed.
what makes the jewish god THE god and not the Muslims ???

my christian brothers and sisters please explain this to me!!

Ok maybe I was using a lot of profanity and I apologize for my rude behavior. I guess there would always be racism. I do really think that us Mexicans should be more united and that to the Mexicans who are in gangs to stop their ways because they're puting a bad name on us Mexicans and because we should be more united. I will use my gift of going into college and studying what most Mexicans can't because of their legal status. To the Mexicans remember if you don't like something stand up and say why you don't like it. To the Pueto Ricans, Cubans, etc I apologise only for my rude bahavior, but If I ever said that we get discriminated by "SOME" of your people is because I say the honest true. To the Americans that got offended in any way I apologise for my rude behavior. In conclusion I'll say to the young Mexican Youth that keep going to school and learn a lot of things so you could have a bright future. To the racist people I say keep being racist and may God have mercy on you.

I have met people from this site and they have done nothing but lie why make up something they say they are lonely and want someone to chat with and they just tell the most out of this world stuff.
