I have met people from this site and they have done nothing but lie why make up something they say they are lonely and want someone to chat with and they just tell the most out of this world stuff. That I know is not true. Yet I have listened or they talk trash and sex. I was not there to listen to the trash or sex just to talk.

ive found most people in life are very dishonest

There are a couple reasons. Many are not satisfied with their own lives and use the internet as a fantasy world to become the things they can never be, in a safe environment. Those are the negative reinforcement types. Others use it to forward themselves -- positive reinforcement. This could be exercising their imagination, preying upon others, or trying to market themselves. These are not necessarily positive things, but they represent the pyschological value of positived reinforcement.

Because they think that nobody would be interested in them if they described how they actually are. So they make up stuff to make thenselves seem more interesting and get the attention they don't think they'd get without lying.
Kinda sad really. Because when the truth is found out, any trust they built up goes right out the window, and they're back where they started.

Honesty is a lost art. People lie online because they can and it is hard to prove the truth. It's like a dating site. All the women are 5'2", petite build, blond hair blue eyes. All the guys are 6', dark hair, muscular, full head of hair, and no one is married

It's easy to say whatever you want when nobody can see your facial expressions and your body language. I agree. People are lonely. It's difficult to make new friends. Most of the time, someone has an agenda, don't ya think??

People lie for the same reason they love Halloween. Online, they get to play a character. They can be whoever they want to be or say whatever they want to say because they ARE who you think they are, even if only for a moment.

because they can!! The internet offers anonymity and people can pretend to be something they aren't or try on personalities just to see how others react....it's harmless....that's why some chat rooms are not to be taken seriously.

some people are afraid to be their selves even on line because they are afraid they will be judged not for their intelligence but for who they really are in REAL LIFE and of course on line you can be whoever or whatever you choose too be .In reality you may be 200lbs on line 110lbs ect ect ect fairy tales and myths .some people are for real
