I was quite shocked at the reaction of this "POEM" this is exactly how i felt the morning after my 19 year old son died, this is an example of a true spiritual journey beginning, i had no beliefs, can you imagine living that way all of your life? thank GODI don't have too....he answered all of my questions and allowed me to continue living. what do you think happens to people who find themselves in a situation like mine and don't have a base of faith?

My ex-boyfriend told me I was too "fat" for heaven... and that God doesn't love "fat" people. Not sure if it's true but how do I get a ticket to heaven?

You hear them tell Christians all the time that there is no proof that there is a God, Jesus, Heaven or Hell, but can they prove that there isn't. Yeah, we know that you say that the Bible was written by man. Uh, we already knew that. There are alot of non-believers that use quotes from OUR Bible to try to dispute our beliefs. We can use those same quotes to dispute them, only we can interprite them correctly. I know I don't always understand what things in the Bible mean, so when I don't I go to someone who I know has devoted years to studying the Bible, researched cities and places mentioned in the Bible, and ancient ways of life, refrences mentioned in the Bible, and anything else concerning Christianity.I know that he will speak from years of knowledge and research and not just repeat what he has heard someone say. Every point made on evilbible.com uses a scripture to "back them up" but a knowledgeable Christian can correctly interprite scripture and discredit them every time.

The remarkable thing is that
We really love our neighbour as ourselves:
We do unto others as we do unto ourselves.
We hate others when we hate ourselves.
We are tolerant toward others when we tolerate ourselves.
We forgive others when we forgive ourselves.
We are prone to sacrifice others
When we are ready to sacrifice ourselves.

The first sentence in the first detail clearly stated a question but it was deleted, I'm presuming because it was an argument for evolution. So why do people always have to play the victim? Why report some one for having a different view? Does your religion dictate that you be a blind bigot and a fool? You are not a martyr. You are not the last theist alive, you are a vast majority, stop acting like you're so tortured and oppressed. I made an argument for evolution that mentioned no religion at all, it was assumed that any religion that opposed it would answer, but I got reported instead. Good job staying in your tiny little "Room Without A Window" (Operation Ivy reference) a little longer. Question, does anyone's religion really say not to respect opposing oppinions? I don't think so. A last note, you are NOT a martyr or oppressed, time to act like a grown up.

I really love this film because it juxtaposes so many of the very same arguments that rage around here, but unlike all us "Yahoos", this film handles the topic with much more elegance.

On the one side you have the agnostic turned atheist (turned agnostic?), who finds herself forced to employ a faith greater then she can possibly imagine, in an effort to find "the" answer. On the other side is the devout theist, who finds himself first admiring, and eventually coming to love a person with whom he shares nothing theologically, but everything else that matters most.

Somehow, even though they embrace diametrically opposed positions, they come together in a way that exemplifies the very best in humanity... our ability to trancend our differences to reach a higher level then either could achieve alone. And each person becomes a bit more of a humanist in the process.

Whether we believe or don't believe, perhaps we can admit that there is more to be gained through acceptance of each other?

How many people think that this is true? I was born and raised in the south and recently moved to the tri-state area i.e Paramus, Wayne, Nyc and I have experienced more racism here than in the deep woods of the south. i.e. Miami, Jacksonville,Birmingham, Atlanta, Nashville, the Caorlinas. And honest to God in these areas the people arent rich so I know that It isnt a social bias cause they own 2 family homes and have some stranger living with them. However when I visit more affluent areas the people are nice and I dont feel that stare. For example I went to the Library in a middle class suburb of Jersey and some of the "caucasians" were looking at myself as well as my bi-racial baby cousins very funny and asking us If we lived there... And note that I said some because Im not some Black person who thinks that all white folks are out to get me. I love everyone... but I am just curious because I have this debate often and wanted some outside input. SO is there more racism up north?

then why aren't we "turning the other cheek"? Why are we over there with our "weapons of mass destruction"?

And no Christian say anything about defense, because it is not in the New Testament. Which causes me to believe that Christian Leaders have been hypocrites from the Crusades forward...
