I am a Christian and hate being in war. I have though the same exact thing. How can the president claim to be a good Christian and still be a war monger at the same time? Why does he only care about himself and his special interests? The only conclusion that I have come to is that he is a "Christian" because he knows that will help him get the Christian votes. I personally couldn't sit in church like a phony while there are men and women in this country being killed in Iraq and innocent children being killed because of my love for war.

THe President may be Christain, but the Us is the melting pot and is far less Christain than other developed countries.
If fact Christianity is declining so fast in the US that it has been calculated that by the year 2042 the Christains will no longer be the majority. The same goes for Canada.

Many have talked about this .President Carter has told the the nation,he worship the prince of peace not war.I wonder who he could have talking about.Maybe President Bush. One of the greatest and most hated leaders of all time Lord Protector Oliver Cromwell killed other white Christians in the name of God.Yes men, women and children were burned alive by Cromwell. When you find fools who have God on speed dial watch out. This is not been a hypocrite,This is during the work of Satan.Bush is a Christian and so is Cromwell and Hitler. I do not feel they are hypocrites. All these leaders said they were during the work of God.

No, I think that's an intelligent question. If we are a Christian nation, why are we fighting with all the power of our arsenals and combined forces instead of letting God "fight for us"...if that is what He wants, correct?
Answer, I don't know. If I were president, and even being as passionate a believer in God...I don't know if I'd have the nerve, the courage, the faith, the patience, whatever you want to call it, not to move on what I thought to be the best course of action, even if it involves aggressive action.

I won't argue with you. You make a good point. God bless you, my friend.
And by the way, thank you for coming on here and asking a VALID QUESTION, instead of just . .. .well you know.
Oh and other people have mentioned this isn't actually a Christian nation .. . .well be that as it may, GW Bush is still a Christian and he makes the decisions so this person's question is still valid.
The point is maybe he's right???? Can we as Christians admit that maybe he's right? Maybe we should have turned the other cheek on sept 11th?
It does say in the New Testament that violence begets violence, and that he who lives by the sword will die by the sword. (along with LOVING your brother as yourself, not judging, forgiveness, and understanding . .. . .)

The US is a non-sectarian nation.
People taking office are allowed by LAW to not swear allegiance to God. It's in the Constitution!
Most Presidents and officials have religion, because 99% of America has religion.
But we are NOT by defintion a country of any GOD or RELIGION.
We were founded by relgious, mostly Christain people, but they KNEW that NO ONE sect should be favored like it was in Britain or other countries.

The US is a secular nation in which christianity is the dominant religion.
That is VERY different from being a "christian nation"

We aren't allowed to be a Christian nation. It seems that islam is the only "religion" worth speaking of these days. It must be because everyoe is SCARED if saying anything aginst them! Christians have been warned that they will be persecuted, so it is nothing new.

we are a republic not a theocracy. Christianity appears to be the dominate religion because many people probably feel there is some truth to it.

yes the U.S. was founded on christian ideals and always proclaims to be a christian godly nation of people. but even God sent nations who love Him to war. peopel die in wars, but God can kill souls. so, turning the other cheek, is for one man striking another in anger. not plotting to murder women children and those who have not wronged them. i believe we should steward the world bc we already do
