The arabic word for "god" is "allah." Many well-meaning people claim that the only difference between Islam and Christianity or Judaism is one of semantics - that "Allah" and "Jehovah" are the same diety, the same God, and that it is only a matter of translation. Others claim that there are many differences, and that the sacred texts of the various religions clearly identify the dieties as *not* being the same. What do you think? Please support your position with something I can look up for myself. Thanks!

Maybe it was easier for God to kill Jesus because He knew He could resurrect him, whereas Abraham was just acting on faith?

Sure, sometimes going through a crisis makes you tougher and makes you appreciate the little things in your life. At the same time, catastrophes like the death of a child can completely destroy an individual for the rest of his/her life. Which negative experiences are beneficial? Where do we draw a line?

and it is where you will be richly rewarded, then why are you here? If I believed it was that much better I don’t even think I would wear a seat belt! Why would you wait to get to such a great place? Why do you cling so hard to this life if it so much better there?

For religious folk who believe that God wrote the Bible and that there can't be contradictions of any kind in the text, these two stories were a big problem.

One very interesting Jewish commentarial tradition tries to reconcile the two stories by teaching that they describe the creation of two different women. The woman created with the man in Chapter One was called Lillith, and the woman described in the Eden narrative was, of course, Eve.

Lillith was, according to legend, the first wife of Adam. She had long, flowing red hair and was the first feminist! When Adam told her he was boss, she fought with him and ultimately flew away from him (OK, so we forgot to tell you, Lillith had wings!). Adam was so down in the dumps because Lillith had left him to make demon children at the Red Sea (it matched her hair) that he complained to God.

Two years ago My g/f, if I ever say I've felt love before it is w/ her, moved me 200 miles away and cheated and broke my heart. Well at one point I didn't have any place to go, me and my dog. So this male friend took me and my dog in. Well, eventually, I thought, "I hadn't been w/ a guy in 5 years I'll try this again." Well shortly after that I got pregnant. So needless to say I am still in this for my son, whom I love w/ all my heart. I don't know what to do. I am dying inside. The only thing keeping me going is my son. I want to get back to my normal lifestyle. But I can't get his father to leave and also I feel guilty because of my son. I'm at my witts end and don't know what to do. His father is not hanging around for his son. He is hanging on for me. But he knows I am not sexually attracted to him nor want to be w/ him. I'm stuck and don't know what to do. Any suggestions? How do you break away from someone that you have a child with?
