Why are you assuming that all homeless people don't have a job. You're stereotyping. Maybe they are going through a tough period and even thought they are working, STILL can't make ends meet. Don't be so quick to judge others.

During the winter 5 years ago (in St Charles, MO), my wife and I approached a woman at a local convenience store who was homeless. My church had a wonderful outreach that helped the homeless get housed, trained and back in the world. They supplemented with mental health counseling and even paid for medicines if needed. We presented this to the lady as an option to staying on the street. The lady was violently opposed to this and insisted I take her into my home and let her live with me. She asked that I buy her cigarettes and a sandwhich and then take her back to my place. I bought her the sandwhich and some coffee and promised to come back and talk to her the next day. Every day for the next seven days, we talked. She didn't remember me from day to day so it was like a new introduction each day. Each day, she insisted that she wanted someone to take care of her and didn't want to go for help. It was very frustrating and I really felt sorry for her. After seven days, I never saw her again. I don't know if she moved on or was relocated by the police. At the time, I was young and naive about these types of things but tried to approach it with love instead of judgement.

I would employ a homeless person if the need was right. I think helping whenever possible is a good thing. I would also be very careful about the security of my family and I. Not because they are homeless but we should always be careful.

Since I would be hiring them to preform a job or service for me as long as they came to work clean and sober where they lived or what they did would be of no concern to me. Although I would find it rather hard to consider you to work since you don't make much sense. You ask why a homeless person doesn't get a job but yet you also say that they are obviously unemployable and you wouldn't hire them. IF they are unemployable how are they supposed to get a job? I never have seen where someone lived or didn't live being a factor of determining if they were qualified for a job or not.

You're right, you aren't Oprah. I believe she has a lot more compassion.

You really irk me with your attitude. I was once homeless, I didn't have family to turn to (they were abusive). I lost my job and didn't qualify for unemployment. I ended up on the streets.

It's hard to get a job when you don't have a phone and a place to wash your clothes. Yet I overcame and have lived a decent honest life, why, because someone had the compassion to help me to help myself.

uh, The guy wants to get a job yet you dont want to hire him. Then you say he should get a job. You are not very bright are you!!!! Also there may be a valid reason why he is homeless, company downsizing, illness forced him to stop work, etc. You should catch a wake up and realise that there is always more to a story than what you see!!!!!

Yes I would hire a homeless person because they need to be able to take care of themselves like society keeps telling them they need to. Make sure your never homeless and in the same situation you speak about now. Because maybe someone wouldn't hire you. It could happen! ENJOY!

Some people are on the streets due to unfortunate events they couldn't help- ie medical bills, etc.
Then from there it's a double-edged knife- No one will hire a homeless person therefore they'll always be homeless.

My friend's dad would always bring homeless people home with him and give them a warm meal every thanksgiving until one time when he was stabbed and robbed by a homeless guy. So I wouldn't for fear of getting killed or robbed.
