About 4 hours seems right,I know I get tired of most of them before that, and if you have an open bar its time for the drinkers to go home. Too short is a lot better than too long.

3-5 hours sounds right, though longish receptions tend to be the ones with a five or more course meal, cocktails, and a DJ. Those can go on for 5 hours easily. If you have a simpler reception, 2 or 3 hours might be plenty.

I haven't ever had a wedding nor am I a wedding planner...but if I were to attend a reception I wouldn't expect it to last longer than 4 hours. I'd say 3 is enough.

My reception was about 4 hours long. If you like to have them during the evening, that's a pretty good length.

It depends on the time of day, the day of the week and the number of guests. It also depends on the the format and culture, of the families and firends. As a general rule you should allow 3-4 hours.

Cheers

It depends on the bride/groom, the guests, and the culture. How long you party is up to you. Most last 3-5 hours, though.

Depends on what you want to do there.. but I'd say about 4 hours.. an hour or so for eating and toasts etc. and 3 for socializing, dancing, drinking etc.
