Okay. I understand that some of questions about Mormons are trivial but my questions really are geniune. I will not become a Mormon but the heritage is a part of my children and my oldest has questions (much like the ones I'm asking). I would like to be able to answer him with something other than, "I dunno..."

This question may seem silly but chocolate has a ton of caffeine in it so why is this allowed and not the drinking of coffee? They both share the same health and emotional benefits? So what's the difference?

Be kind. As I stated before, I'm not asking these questions to mock or make fun of anyone. They are genuine questions and I value the answers. I just don't feel comfortable asking the practicing members of the husbands family. They don't communicate with me unless needed...my family is Catholic and while I really have no problem with the Mormons, they do seem to have a problem with me.

My Jesus against your unbelief. If I am wrong, I will issue a public apology in the form of a question. If I am right, we both win.

Make this statement out loud with conviction: "Jesus, You know that I don't believe that You currently exist. However, in the interest of science, I am asking You to show irrefutable evidence of Your existence to me within the next thirty days."

Isnt this a wee bit strange to good wholesome folk?

The daughters of Lot supposedly trick their father into having sex with both of them by getting him drunk twice.

(Gen 19:31-35 NRSV) And the firstborn said to the younger, "Our father is old, and there is not a man on earth to come in to us after the manner of all the world.

Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, so that we may preserve offspring through our father."

So they made their father drink wine that night; and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; he did not know when she lay down or when she rose.

On the next day, the firstborn said to the younger, "Look, I lay last night with my father; let us make him drink wine tonight also; then you go in and lie with him, so that we may preserve offspring through our father."

So they made their father drink wine that night also; and the younger rose, and lay with him; and he did not know when she lay down or when she rose.

Psychics always seem to be making a buck reading minds and predicting the future. I have seen some impressive psychic "detectives" that the police have used, and that lends creedence to it, but how limited is this "power". There are definite quacks, but the top ones cant get six lottery numbers. I suppose an advocate of this stuff could say they dont choose it, they have a higher calling. C'mon, the higher calling would be to use the money to help others or buy a nice crystal ball. Please solve this "mystery"(or have I already). Please dont tell me all the lottery winners are psychic. Thanks

Here is her comment:
Well some think cause some of us Christians believe this gives us the right to sin and do what we want and we are ok with God still, well they are wrong. If a person claims to be saved and continues to walk in sin, then they are not saved. 1 John is a good book on that. If God is in someone trust me you will know it cause you cant keep him hid. In Ephesians you will see many time the words, "In Christ". Once we become saved we become a new creature, 2 Corinthians 5:17. A preacher once told the congragation to take a penny and place it in the palm of your hand. Now the penny represents the saved person, Now close your fist around the penny. Closing your fist represents you becoming in Christ. Read Ephesians Chapter 1 and 2 for all the times we are IN CHRIST. Now take your other hand that represents God and close it around your fist with the penny in it. John 14:11 says that Jesus is in the Father and the Father in Him. Now seal your both hands together with the Holy Spirit, Ephesians 1:13. Now if we are in Christs hands and Christ is in His Fathers hand, and we are seal with the Holy Spirit how can anyone take us out. John 10:28-29. Some say we can take ourself out. Well if you could then you wasnt saved in first place.

I mean it must be confusing with conflicting stories and all....

The author of Matthew says his name is “Jacob” (Matthew 1:16).

The author of Luke however disagrees. He says Joseph’s father was “Heli” (Luke 3:23).

As a matter of fact, although there’s some occassional agreement, there’s mostly disagreement between the two Gospels about Jesus’ genealogy going all the way back to Abraham.

(Luke 3:23 NRSV) Jesus was about thirty years old when he began his work. He was the son (as was thought) of *Joseph* son of Heli, …

Nothing about Mary in there at all and no, Joseph was not the “son-in-law” of Heli, and Mary’s ancestry doesn’t coincidently intertwine with Joseph’s going all the way back to Abraham, occasionally matching some people along the way and no, back in those days they didn’t give a flying flip who the mother’s ancestry was.

The author of Luke simply came up with or recorded a genealogy that contradicted the one in the Gospel of Matthew.

I am protestant and my husband's family is Catholic. Although I have a lot of respect for the Catholic faith and I realize that we are all Christians, I guess it's a little confusing to me what you base your belief's on. My mother-in-law is a very devote Catholic and is a better woman than I'll ever be, but a lot of Biblical principles she seems to ignore or blatently disagree with. I guess there's been a time when a family member was really sick and I mentioned something about God being able to heal them and she didn't really say anything back. What about salvation? I believe salvation cannot be earned by merit and good works, but it is a gift given by grace. Then, someone commits suicide and she says that people that commit suicide automatically go to purgatory but they will go to heaven. Where is that found in the Bible? What about purgatory? Is that even Biblical? I've read a lot of the Catholic Catechism, but it does'nt really tell me what I need to know. Please explain

Last night I was driving home from work and the voice of the little girl from that horrible advert that says "if you hit me at 40 miles per hour there's around an 80% chance I will die, but if you hit me at 30 miles per hour theres around an 80% chance I will live" popped into my head. I looked at my speed and I was doing 38 so I slowed down to 30.

As I went around a corner a little way in front of me a boy ran out into the road after his football. I am sure that if I hadn't slowed down I would have hit him.

Do you think that is wierd? I wasn't thinking about the advert or anything previously, it just popped into my head for no apparent reason. I thought it was a bit spooky!!
