Last night I was driving home from work and the voice of the little girl from that horrible advert that says "if you hit me at 40 miles per hour there's around an 80% chance I will die, but if you hit me at 30 miles per hour theres around an 80% chance I will live" popped into my head. I looked at my speed and I was doing 38 so I slowed down to 30.

As I went around a corner a little way in front of me a boy ran out into the road after his football. I am sure that if I hadn't slowed down I would have hit him.

Do you think that is wierd? I wasn't thinking about the advert or anything previously, it just popped into my head for no apparent reason. I thought it was a bit spooky!!

Some people believe that we all have a sixth sense (women in particular) which we sometimes simply think is our 'gut instinct' or 'intuition' ... or ignore altogether. Learning to listen to that random thought can do wonders for you, if you let yourself trust that perhaps your instincts could be right! When you are aware of it, you may begin to notice that you have little things come to mind for no apparent reason, and you'll be surprised how often it happens.

I was in a cafe last week and I asked if the savory muffin had onions in it (it didn't) and I thought to myself "check that it doesn't have mushrooms" but I didn't because who the heck ever puts mushrooms into a muffin??!! But .... there were mushrooms in it ... I should have trusted myself and asked the question ... I hate mushrooms!

Another time, I was out shopping and my boyfriend called to say he was coming over to my place in an hour. My gut instinct was that he was bringing me flowers, and that I should buy him something in return, so I purchased a small gift for him before I went home and sure enough, he turned up with flowers.

It is weird but always listen to your intuition, when i have ignored it something bad has always happen. The last one I had was I though I should move my car and park it on the other side of the car park but thought no it's parked now, when i came back there was a fence panel that had blown onto the bonnet of my car and scratched the paint! Not as significant as your story but just making a point.

The night Princess Diana died, I was sat on the verander with a friend, we had been drinking steadily for a couple of hours. It was early hours. My friend suddenly stood up and said 'I am off to bed, I am seeing things, I have just seen Princess Diana in the sky' I laughed and putit down to the red wine. The next morning when we heard the news, i wasn't so sure. These things happen.

Perhaps. Well done for listening tho'!
Maybe you had glanced down at your speedo a moment or two before the ad came to mind, and subconciously saw you were doing ~40 and the ad sprang up from your subconcious. Or, maybe, you did have an "experience" of some sort.

Hmmm.. road safety ad campaigns do work then.

They forgot to mention in the ad that you're less likely to hit the wee girl if you drive at 30 than if you drive at 40. Also that you're less likely to hit anyone if you play that advert in your head over and over again.

I think it shows that as humans we are tuned into the future. For an explanation of how this works look up anything to do with dimensions - An Experiment With Time by J W Dunne is a good place to start or In Search of the Miraculous by P D Ouspensky. It is all relative to your starting point, so for example if a human being is the dimension that we start from then the human being would be represented by a point, that point describes a line in time and that line itself forms part of a plane which forms part of a cube (this dimension doesn't concern us here). Ordinarily we experience the world as a linear progression in time from point A to point B. Because of the way we are made our brains act as a kind of reducing valve. We are in the position rather like that of somebody travelling on a train looking out of the window and watching everything going by. If we could stick our heads out of the window we can look both ways i.e into the past and into the future. Your experience shows that sometimes if we are tuned in enough (ie not so wrapped up in our thoughts, perhaps because we are focused on something else like driving) then we can metaphorically stick our heads out of the window. Dunne showed that when we dream - our consciousness is able to roam across this plane of time and he gives many examples of dreams that predict the future accurately, normally we don't notice such things beacause we are so used to thinking of time progressing in a linear fashion and we only pick up on references in our dreams to do with the past.

Try it yourself, you need to remember your dreams, write them down (with practice this becomes easier) especially at times when you are doing something different - like when on holiday - this makes it easier to spot dream elements from the future. If you do this enough you begin to realise that your dreams refer to things that havent happened yet as much as they do to things that have. I have tried this and can verify its truth. Its a fascinating phenomenon and leads to other speculation that I wont go into here about intuition and the possible evolution of human beings. Ouspensky is the man for that!

no coincidence, you got a message, accept it and begrateful for it.

You may notice people or things will come to you when you need them most. Some things will just drp into your lap (not literally of course).

Its this universe we live in, at work. The best thing is that you listened to it and look what happened. Welcome to the real world!

There are so many times things like your insident has happened to so many different people (probably most people) but never really stopped and questioned why or really thought about that there was a reason behind doing something, especially if you hadnt conciously done it. (If that makes sense?)

Well, the advert is obviously working. What you experienced wasn't weird, just lucky. Thank your lucky stars that the thought arrived when it did.
