If this is so (Corinthians 6.9), how is it that the Protestant church in America has ordained a homosexual bishop, with the full support of the archbishop of Canterbury in England? Aparently only he African protestants are objecting !

I have no strong views on this as it is only one of many other teachings in the Bible we have quietly droped. But if we are not going to adhere to certain teachings, because we consider them to be out of date, or against the spirit of love, which is the basis of Christianity, fine. But then let us stop this hypocrisy and delete them from the text.

Why be stingy with blessings. Sorry if I am stepping on angry toes...but I am seriously wondering...always did…and I notice that it is used in context when speaking of war...why bring God into political wars in the first place...

My Argentinean students have various opinions about English people, largely based on what they've seen on TV, plus their opinions of the Falklands war.

I'd like to be able to tell them what people in the rest of the world think about THEM, but I don't really know! Do you even HAVE an opinion?

Your answers will be read by my students! Thanks:-)

10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.
9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.
8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.
7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!
6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky

Matt 19:26-
According to verse, "with God all things are possible".
However, Hebrews 6:18 declares that "It is impossible for God to lie"

Tell me your thoughts about this.

I know this should probably be put under the Polls and Surveys catagory, but since it pertains to religion I thought I 'd post it here. Anyway...

Do you think you would get more out of this yahoo! answers forum and get better questions about your "particular" religion if they divided the "religion/spirituality forum into separate catagories? YES or NO?

An example would be: Islam, Christianity, Buddhism/Hinduism, Pagan/Wiccan, and Other Spirituality.

Besides saying just YES or NO, feel free to add your thoughts and/or comments on this.

Thankyou in advance!

Do you think its sexy when a girl wears extremely tight clothing and short skirts? Don't you like women who are confident enough to realize they don't need to show off their bodies to be attractive and recognized? When you see a girl wearing that, what do you think?

I am a total mess. I'm 30, still living at home, i have no car, i filed for bankruptcy last year, and after working for a electronics store that is now closing for more than a year and a half i find out that they're thinking of transferring me to a store too far away from where I live or they might let me go . I'd get severance as well as a bonus. I can't find a job anywhere. I feel like a failure. I don't know which way to go ? What should I do?

Exodus 32, Verse 12: Wherefore should the Egyptians speak and say, for mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains and to consume them from the face of the earth. Turn from thy fierce wrath and repent of this evil agianst thy people.

Exodus 32, Verse 14: And the Lord repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.

I keep hearing about these 70 virgins that every Muslim man gets as a reward if he makes it to heaven. One thing I don't understand, though...after the first night, they wouldn't be virgins anymore, so would I get to turn them in for new ones? If so, what happens to the ones that are no longer virgins, and where do all the new virgins come from? Are they like sex robots or something?

Also, what do they women get? 70 virule young men?

Thanks, and please don't kill me.

What’s your opinion as to these points?

Unfortunately, the human race is predisposed to failure. Here are just three of the reasons why.

1) The human race is predisposed to procrastination which means that we will never try to fix something until it's "in our face". Even then, it has to be "absolutely" proven that it is recognizably affecting our "quality of life" before we will act. For example, take the environmental situation. We still have people (generally for economic reasons) fighting the preponderance of scientific data that indicates we better do something to fix the environment. They seem to think that if they are justified in doing nothing as long as they can find "any little piece of data" which "may" indicate that global warming isn't occurring. Let me ask you this; is it better to act and later discover that the situation was not as "dire" as we suspected or to do nothing and later discover that it's too late to fix???

2) We are naturally territorial (yes, like many other creatures). The problem is that the "sticks & stones" (which were replaced by fire, spears, arrows, gunpowder, etc.) we used to kill the challengers to "our territory" in the beginning have evolved into biological and nuclear weapons with the capability to poison the planet. By the way, how does territory get "claimed" anyway? I mean, at some point in the past nobody "owned" any property but now we all think we have the right to "own" that which was never "BOUGHT". BTW, yes, I "own" land and a house but I still stand by my point that neither the former owner nor I actually ever have had or currently have the rights to buy and sell it.

3) We have worldwide leadership that for the most part is either ignorant or indifferent to the truth (or, in the case of the U.S., BOTH). Without leadership, we will never make any headway and, regrettably, I believe that there are too many governments that are more concerned with either staying ahead of or catching up to, everyone else and are willing to accept the consequences of future problems in order reap the "rewards" of today.

Maybe, if we get lucky, we’ll get a “mini” version of the movie “The day after tomorrow” that will force the world into action. Unfortunately, according to the director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, James Hansen (as well as many other scientists), we have 10 or less yrs to turn it around and I don’t think we will. That’s why my wife and I have decided not to bring another life into a world that has more of a negative outlook now than it ever has. Enjoy life and live for the now because too many governments, and many corporations, are steadfast in their path to destroying the future.

There are so many factors to take into consideration that I don't know where to start!

Should I go for the one with the most impressive miracles? Coolest-looking gods/goddesses? Or nicest places of worship, most/least demanding observances, the most festivals, greatest/smallest number of prohibited foods, most enjoyable afterlife, largest number of believers, strictest moral code, or the biggest/smallest number of holy wars to its name?

What about its attitude towards women? Is my religion likely to get me persecuted or stoned to death? Are there any other factors I might have overlooked?
