Take the bible as a regular book with flaws and misprints. It's not perfect!

No, God Himself did not repent like we think of repentence. He did not do something evil then ask forgiveness. God was going to destroy the Israelites because they were a bunch of ungrateful babies, and they longed for the evil practices of the Egyptians. Moses interceded for them, however, and God chose not to to destroy them (the evil which He thought to do unto His people.) This shows how much awesome power there is in prayer, and how merciful God is. He answered Moses' prayer, and gave the Israelites yet another chance because He loved them.

Prayer moves the hand of God. God listens to the prayers of his chosen people. See what David did after God said his son from Bathsheba would die because of David's sin. In that case, David's son did die like God said through Nathan the prophet, but the point is, David understood that maybe God would change his mind. Because.....prayer moves the hand of God to action.

Exodus 32 (New International Version)
New International Version (NIV)

Exodus 32
7 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt, have become corrupt. 8 They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, 'These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.'
9 "I have seen these people," the LORD said to Moses, "and they are a stiff-necked people. 10 Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them. Then I will make you into a great nation."
11 But Moses sought the favor of the LORD his God. "O LORD," he said, "why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand? 12 Why should the Egyptians say, 'It was with evil intent that he brought them out, to kill them in the mountains and to wipe them off the face of the earth'? Turn from your fierce anger; relent and do not bring disaster on your people. 13 Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom you swore by your own self: 'I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and I will give your descendants all this land I promised them, and it will be their inheritance forever.' " 14 Then the LORD relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened.
dude thats not exactly what it says you make it sound like what God was going to do was evil and thats not the case. Moses was saying that the Eypgtians were going to say it was evil, but what God was going to do was just it wasn't evil. They had been worshiping false God's it broke the Lord's command to His people this command was punishable by death, because the wages of sin is death. He showed compassion on them as a glimpse of the compassion He showed us all through Jesus Christ. It also is an example of the power of prayer its the same thing we can do when we ask God things. He listens to us. Moses didn't convince God, but God gave to Moses what He asked for. He wasn't going to sin.

God doesn't sin so why would he have repented! God sent his Son Jesus Christ to take the blame and die for OUR sins, Jesus died so you could live eternally in Heaven, all you have to do is believe that Jesus died for you, He loves you and wants to spend eternity with you , it makes Him sad when you choose to sin!
Love in Chist!
p.s. I hope this helps and i'm not trying to be too preachy.
