It really makes a mockery of all those creationists who claim that scientists are turning away en masse from evolution :
Project Steve is a parody by the National Center for Science Education (NCSE). More specifically, it is a parody of creationist attempts to collect a list of scientists who "doubt evolution". The NCSE's list of scientists who "support evolution" only contains scientists named Stephen or variations thereof (Stephanie, Stefan, Esteban, etc.), thus representing about 1% of the total population. Despite this restriction, it is longer and contains more eminent scientists than any creationist list. The project was named in honor of the paleontologist Stephen Jay Gould.
Eminent scientists who are included in the "pro evolution list" include Stephen Hawking as well as both Nobel Prize winning Steves in science, Steven Chu and Steven Weinberg. The Steve-o-meter reads 744 Steves as of June 8, 2006.
Isn't humour and mockery the best way to deal with creationists ?
