In some sense, society and culture can be viewed as a non-material aspect of our beings, so you have to be very careful about what you mean in this question. No, I don't believe in an after-life. When we die, we're dead and we have no consciousness left. It's like a candle that has been blown out. The flame no longer exists. I don't believe in spirits in the sense of some disembodied energy with consciousness.
On the other hand, I regard myself as a spiritual atheist. I believe that life is to be lived fully and happily. I believe that we should look around us and enjoy the beauty of the universe. I believe that we should love, and learn, and teach, and help others to achieve their goals. But I need no after-life to induce me to do these things. It is simply part of having a good life.

Existence is a state in multiple dimensions. A person exists such that the sum of the probabilities of their initial point of conception iterate out into the sum total of their existence potential across the Prime fractal Wave (P sub-w). Granted, the existence of any single being, or in fact, any single race of beings is an extraordinarily thin slice of the Wave, we still tend to think of "reality" as having a lot to do with ourselves. Whether a person can be considered to have a "spirit" is asking if there is something to a person other than the physical being you see before you. The answer to that, of course, is yes. There is an ever-increasing multiplicity of You, and of your physical forms across the quantum fractal wave. In fact, there is a very good possibility that at least one of "you" is located in a plane that knows the truth. Maybe they'll hop through a Gate someday and shake your hand (don't bet on it).

I could care less about organized religion or any organization for that matter and it isn't currently effecting me or my way of life so I really could care less, as far as an afterlife no, I don't think there is one, it just doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever why anybody would believe in that sort of thing, I think when we die we become another form of energy and not in the spiritual sense but in the realistic sense that we become food for the maggots and the worms which is the correct natural balance and order of things, I think an afterlife is a wonderful thought, at times I wish I could keep myself in that dillusional world, but I've got more important things in the here and now to worry about, I have got a heart and a soul as far as I am concerned but it is only the person who I am, who I choose to be, not that I could be anybody else other than myself anyways, kind of predetermined disposition I acquired from something called DNA, but when I die the only aspect of me that will live on will be in memories of me that others carry when they think of me

I may be no true atheist, but as one that follows naturalism I can still speak on the behalf of one that does not work with spiritual natures. I do not see why there could not be a higher power planning to give us supernatural gifts, but I do not believe that you are gonna get it's attention by making a lot of noise that does not even surpass the planet's atmosphere. Death is seen as an end, but life can still be enjoyed as a race to discovery and our discoveries leave a legacy for us to live on through others when shared.

I am an agnostic not an atheist but I definatly believe in a spiritual power and nature. It is organized religion that I often have problems with because people take it and use it for non spiritual things

ofcourse, there is no afterlife.life means organisation of elements to make up an identity which cud perpetuate either on itself or on others.whats the meaning of life after al the disorganisation has taken place?there remains no mechanism thru which life processes cud take place.have u ever seen a mobile phone working after u have removed its batteries?have u ever recovered the same food in ur plate after u ate it in the morning?then how cud u expect someone will reappear in hell or heaven after he or she has completely been burnt or cremated?
no doubt there is a non physical aspect of humans.nature created brain in the due course of time.brain started working cuz it was imperative 4 survival.if u watch closely u ll c everything v humans think whether its love, horror, hate, jealousy, competition, fear, companionship;everything;it will take u to the only central point ,that is survival.spirituality of human has nothing to do with god or afterlife.if u have got a brain u ought to think n make up ur own mind set even if u try to remain brainless.

Like people who believe in God, atheists are people who do not believe in God. That's all. Otherwise they are just like anybody else. We can reason the fact that there is something more than just the physical. We cannot explain the words "I" or "Me" which we often use. We point to parts of our body and say 'this is "my" head' or 'this is "my" hand' and so on. Who is that "my" referring to as the owner of the body?

As far as I am concerned, there is no non-physical aspect of being, unless you choose to count the mind. I certainly do not believe in an afterlife.

I don't personally believe in a "god", but I certainly cannot deny that people seem to be instinctively spiritual, whether or not they subscribe to an organized religion.

I consider myself to be spiritual, although not religious. I don't see the need to have my beliefs constantly reinforced by others, or to have people "agree" with me.
Nor am I against organized religion...to each his own.
