i am a single mom who had a great $12 hr. job, welding until sometime in May, when I was laid off due to an unexpected "surprise?". I thought my doctor had tied my tubes when my son was born. Well, I learned the hard way that he hadn't. And due to the fact that the fumes that an argon welder give off, pregnancy is grounds for termination, based on it being a safety hazard. I've tried several churches, community action programs, and places like salvation army, st vincent de paul, and our lady of perpetual help, but have come up empty each time. I have to come up with, AT LEAST $1000 of the $1687 I owe by the 12th, or I gotta go. ($1000 is actual rent past due-other 687 is late chgs. and court fees) If anyone knows of anywhere i can go for help other than where I've gone, and knows this area, please let me know. thank you, Pam

If African American's have Black Pride, and Hispanics have Brown Pride and it is considered a celebration of their culture and heritage, then why is it that if a white person says they have White Pride they are labeled a racist and a bigot???

I asked my sister to hold an XBOX and 10 games during a breakup between me and my boyfriend. Thought he may take it but I paid for it. She does. I come back to get it 3 weeks later (mind you we talk almost daily) and as soon as I pick up the bag she tells me something may be missing. Well the Xbox and games are gone. She says some kids stole it out of her garage and it is not her responsibility and she doesn't have to apologize. What is the right thing to do. Frankly I believe she pawned or sold them.

Why is it that so many people think that christianity is complete b.s.? Here's my position, if you read the bible, I promise you won't find anything in it that tells you to do wrong. In fact the bible says to love people, and to do the right thing. If everyone did what the bible said to do (whether you beleive in it or not) how can the world not be a much better place?

Do you think minorities would still have been given the chances they are given now?
Do you think that minorities would continue to get chances if affirmation action laws were lifted?
Just guess...how many white people are really affected by affirmative action?

I'm just wondering if anyone knows what I am religious-wise. I've been raised Catholic but for the past few years I've been questioning whether I'm in the right place. (I don't hold grudges against people in that religion, many are really good ppl) I feel a great connection to nature and the beauty that fills the universe. I'm not sure whether I believe in a God (although sometimes it seems like there's something around). I feel freer and better when I'm not tied into a certain belief system and I always want to respect others and never want to be preachy. I search for stability and adore math and science.
If any of you know anything that could help give me clues as to what I am because I'm sure there are others out there who feel like I do. Also, as to death, I just think of peace. And I know I'm not through college and still have time ahead of me to learn.
