Who says its a medieval lie? You? How do you know? Were you there? Why should we believe you instead of the church? Your question is loaded, making it moot. If you are so convinced Christian faith is a lie why are you concerned about it at all. You should move on to other things you probably know more about, like american idol, rap music, gay sex, drugs and booze. Leave critical thought to those of us that give a damn.

I think you need to check your sources, the story of Adam and Eve is in Genesis - that's an Old Testament book, written thousands of years before the Middle Ages! On the other hand, people spout it as true because there is an infallible witness - the Church!

Where do you get the information that it is a medieval lie? You need to read your Genesis in the Bible. If you believe the Bible, then there was an Adam and an Eve. If you believe in Darwinian evolution, the same is true - at some time, a proto-human bore a child that was human. There is always a "first", and you can name them what you wish - the Bible names them "Adam" and "Eve".

cmon brainstew, haven't u heard of the "dead sea scrolls". They were found and compared with the modern Bible doctrine and history and were proven to be quite accurate. And we are all here on Earth, but not all fortunate enough to have everything we want or need, so we all choose a "higher power" to believe in and it's okay if we can't prove everything that has or hasn't happened. As long as believing in this, "higher power", makes us feel better by having the thoughts that "someone out there cares about me and makes me strong", and keeps us going that way.
And like it's been said before, "You've got to stand for something, or you'll fall for anything."

Better still think about it...

If Adam and Eve just had two boys, Kane and Able how did kane or Able have kids?

And you wonder why the church is no into child abuse as founded 'according to them if taken to its logical conclusion' by a incestuous sick devient mother and mother fkers

Because it gives ignorant people an answer to the question "where did we come from" I once asked a person who believes in this why were the dinosaurs not mentioned? and he said they never really existed, although we have proof of them and no proof of Adam or Eve.

How about doing some research and being informed before asking foolish things. You call it a medieval lie yet the story precedes Jesus Himself, the story goes back thousands of years prior to the middle ages.

How do you know it was an invention of that time period? I understood that it is not medieval or of the Church, but of the Israelite times, used to explain how things came to be. People insist that is how the world came to be because it's in the Bible and people actually believe, contrary to the evidence, that the Bible is the verbatim word of God.

I know, I find that alot, especially on here.
The story of creation was a sybolic story created so that the people of the time could make sense of their surroundings and to teach morals.
I went to a Catholic School and was taught that at a very early age!

They ... Adam and Eve...are symbols of the beginning of life as we know it. Fundamentalists will say they were absolute, but I don' t think many people subscribe to that nonsense.
