I asked my sister to hold an XBOX and 10 games during a breakup between me and my boyfriend. Thought he may take it but I paid for it. She does. I come back to get it 3 weeks later (mind you we talk almost daily) and as soon as I pick up the bag she tells me something may be missing. Well the Xbox and games are gone. She says some kids stole it out of her garage and it is not her responsibility and she doesn't have to apologize. What is the right thing to do. Frankly I believe she pawned or sold them.

First of all your sister should have told you that she thought that it was missing, if that was truly the case. How in the hell could she do that to you, you're her sister. That is the lowest, you expect that from a stranger or maybe even someone who claims to be your friend, but your sister. That's a no no.

It will cause a permanent rift but you can take her to small claims court and sue her. She agreed to be responsible for those items and they will make her pay for them. I would stop speaking to her and never trust her again.

The right thing to do is apologize and at least offer to pay for them.

i would apologize profusely. i would probably offer to pay back if my finances could afford it.

If I were you, i would NOT ask your sister to hold anything else for you that you don't mind going missing.

She only has to take reasonable care of your stuff, so unless she told someone to steal them out of the garage, then you're out of luck. Unless you paid her to watch your stuff, then she has to guarentee its safety.

Well if you didn't trust her and you're making this accusation it's your own fault for leaving it with her in the first place. Grow up.
