i am a single mom who had a great $12 hr. job, welding until sometime in May, when I was laid off due to an unexpected "surprise?". I thought my doctor had tied my tubes when my son was born. Well, I learned the hard way that he hadn't. And due to the fact that the fumes that an argon welder give off, pregnancy is grounds for termination, based on it being a safety hazard. I've tried several churches, community action programs, and places like salvation army, st vincent de paul, and our lady of perpetual help, but have come up empty each time. I have to come up with, AT LEAST $1000 of the $1687 I owe by the 12th, or I gotta go. ($1000 is actual rent past due-other 687 is late chgs. and court fees) If anyone knows of anywhere i can go for help other than where I've gone, and knows this area, please let me know. thank you, Pam

Sorry to hear of the bind you are in and I can't help you financially at this point but I can only empathize with you. I'm quite surprised [maybe I shouldn't be] that NONE of the "several churches" that you've been to is able to offer you a helping hand.

Actually, I'm shocked to hear that! That merely goes to show you the falsehood of their own teachings --presuming these are so-called Christian churches-- unless you were expecting them to give you the financial aid you need to stay put in the same place.

Things will get worse before they get better and you should gear yourself and your kids with that in mind. I would suggest that you continue with your search [find other churches around town] for a SHELTER or roof over your heads and for FOOD to eat. SELL EVERYTHING else you own RIGHT AWAY --including the computer you're using now and the bulk of your clothes and things-- and expect to TRAVEL LIGHT. This will become a harsh reality for you sooner than you think. So be prepared early enough...

I pray for your and your children's safety and comfort for your hardship ahead. May God bless and protect you always!

Don't worry about letting go of all your things now. You'll be able to replace them once you settle down and get back into gainful employment. Btw, congratulations on your expected baby! He/she could be the one who will change your life for the better, who knows?

Peace be with you!

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.

According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

I suggest you go RIGHT NOW to your county Department of Human Resources and apply for assistance. Also go to your local Department of Housing and Urban Development and apply. THEN go apply for a JOB.
