Why is it that in any sitcom you see on tv that shows a family, the idea of a woman having complete control over the house is fine? That they can even show how she wants to do something the husband really doesn't want to do and she can do something or give some kind of threatening look and brow beat him into doing it? Or talk about hitting him or smacking him or actually show it on screen? And not only is this accepted behavior on the show, but gets big laughs?
Now imagine a show that did all of these same things, but had a man doing it to his wife? Just how quickly would that show get cancelled? Why are these things treated as if they're acceptable behavior for women but forbidden for men?
Keep in mind, I'm not condoning the behavior for men. I think it's wrong for anyone to do these things, man or woman, but if it's going to be shown on tv, how about a little consistency instead of this double standard?
