I was feeling suicidal to day and when my psychiatrist came to see me he told me that he thought of suicide as a hostile act. I told him that people who want to and who do commit suicide aren't trying to be hostile, They want to end the pain, he suggested that I post the question here to find out how people who survied suicide feel about it.

Like when ppl have no self esteem or no confidence then other people say love yourself. It's not like you can just be like "o yea im 15 and weigh 400 pounds I love myself" or" Im a methhead, but im lovin it "etc etc etc. It just doesnt work like that. People have no conficence bcuz they hate themselves right????

Atheism makes sense from typical logic. However the link between to the conscious, which is essential for most models of the afterlife, and the body is fuzzy scientifically.

Is it really appropriate to use the logic of day-to-day life for the afterlife?
Atheists believe that science, which is based only on waking life, is a sufficient rule-set to answer such questions as life after death. Is this just for convenience or a valid way to approach such questions?

I think I am going to tell my Mom, today, that when I was 12 and 13 I looked at a few adult, fictional stories. I have good grades, great friends, and I have always had good morals. What I did when I was 12, and 13 was the worst thing I will probably ever do in my whole life. The past week I have been extremely upset, and crying about what I did. Should I tell her, or not? I have a wonderful relationship with my Mom, (I always have) and I think she will understand my confused feelings. However on the other hand I am worried she will never think of me the same way again. I feel like I need to tell her, but I am not sure how. I am so confused... I don't want her to think I am of me as a weirdo. My Mom means everything to me.

My dad is a psychic medium. Me myself am unsure of my psychic abilities. I can sometimes see orbs, sence presences when no one else is around, feel i am being watched. I walk into some old houses and in some rooms i feel like something or somebody doesnt want me there. i flood with depressing emotion and instantly want to leave. I get flashes/flashbacks of images or scenes that aren't from our times. eg. a grass mound with a scruffy man with longish brown hair about 6ft tall wearing an old torn shirt, short old fashioned trousers and brown leather boots about to get hung. I think i may me psychic or connected into the spirit world in someway. Do mediums normally run in the family? Am i a medium? I think i do have the gift - but i just need to develop it. I'm not scared by any of this - i want to learn - i need to learn - i am intruiged by my experiences through out my life and want to understand why i am feeling, hearing and seeing these things. Your opinions will mean alot thankyou!

And I'm not talking about whatever kind of lifestyle image that pops into your head, I mean gay as in finding the same gender attractive and falling in love with them. All I can say to straight people who still for some reason believe this is do you choose who you find attractive and fall in love with.

I recently took a test where I had to look at a completely black twirling dancer and say whether she was revolving clockwise or anticlockwise. When I first glanced at it, it was spinning clockwise, but when I looked at it a second time it was spinning anticlockwise. I discovered I could very easily switch my perception of her movement back and forth as I chose.

Not knowing what to do, I clicked clockwise, as that was the first way I saw her. The test said I was right-brained. This confuses me also, because I had always heard that right-handed people (as I am) are left-brain oriented.

So what am I? Left? Right? Both? If I'm both, what is that called?

My roomate's boyfriend spent the weekend here. I've never been particularly fond of him, but I kept my mouth shut to make my roomate happy. Yesterday, he decided to trick us into watching a video of people shoving a kitten into a cage, dousing it in gasoline, and lighting it on fire, burning it to death! He sat there laughing while we stared in horror. I was so disgusted I had to leave the room.

Also, he's told me on numerous occassions that he wishes emotions didn't exist because they just end up making people weak and unable to make important decisions and always tells us he doesn't really feel emotions and thinks that they hinder the human race. What's wrong with him? Should I encourage him to seek counselling?

I know that I want to college for one or the other, but I can't bring myself to decide which one! I am planning on majoring in one or the other, and then minoring in photography. So my mom says that I would get more use out of a degree in psychiatry because I'd be able to give medication and drugs and stuff thus getting more money and an overall better use, but after I researched all the different schools that I would have to attend and how many years I would have to go to school, I'm not so sure. I really want to go into child psychology/psychiatry, though i can't bring myself to decide what I want to do! What are your recommendations?

This is in the context of a relationship.

I would like to not feel resentment, but I do. Do you all too?
is it normal?

And then, when I *ask* for what I want, I feel needy, which is again not sending the right message.

So eitherways, asking (coming across as needy) and not asking (feel resentful inside) seem to be the wrong paths.

Do I need to learn to never expect anything when I give to someone in a relationship?
