can mediums run in families?

Question

My dad is a psychic medium. Me myself am unsure of my psychic abilities. I can sometimes see orbs, sence presences when no one else is around, feel i am being watched. I walk into some old houses and in some rooms i feel like something or somebody doesnt want me there. i flood with depressing emotion and instantly want to leave. I get flashes/flashbacks of images or scenes that aren't from our times. eg. a grass mound with a scruffy man with longish brown hair about 6ft tall wearing an old torn shirt, short old fashioned trousers and brown leather boots about to get hung. I think i may me psychic or connected into the spirit world in someway. Do mediums normally run in the family? Am i a medium? I think i do have the gift - but i just need to develop it. I'm not scared by any of this - i want to learn - i need to learn - i am intruiged by my experiences through out my life and want to understand why i am feeling, hearing and seeing these things. Your opinions will mean alot thankyou!

No one "has the gift" so to speak. Being a medium or psychic is a gift that everyone has. It's just like an extra sense (sight, hearing, touch) - everyone has it but not a lot of people know how to get in tune with it or use it.

It's probably genetic, however, that your ability comes so easily.

Parapsychology still has not ruled out the evidence for mediums to exist - there is still a lot of reputable evidence for telepathy and remote viewing which are the main forms of psychic ability people claim to have.

not a good section for such a question.. here in psychology we'll try to tell you what chemical imbalances could cause hallucinations.

for an answer to your question you'll probably want a different section... and I mean no disrespect or attempt to discredit by making this referral.. but I'd try mythology.. as you are more likely to find people more akin to your thinking surfing that section.

I don't know all the Y!A sections.. so there could be one that is a better fit.

absolutely my mother was very phsycic and could aslo interpret for spirits to their loved ones when they were about(total strangers)and did it well(she would often talk about details that only their loved ones would know about). I believe I have inherited this too.those feeling your getting are spirits trying to communicate with you,they know you can see them etc...
dont freak out too much but definately pay attention to what they say or do.over the years my ability has become a little stronger with practice and I'm sure yours will to:)
