How does control, power trips, denial, and self seeking-self loathing liar relate to unsatisfaction of life and work and unhpappiness with self and others? Please be critical and provide examples. (A friend greatly needed help and I couldn't help him with this question.)

And yes, how do you help him deal with those people in that question?

I was a loner from young to high school. I don't talk to ppl or take an interest in them. People find me weird and I was often the target of bullying. Since coming to uni I noticed I've severe deficiency in talking to ppl normally. I reckoned my level of communication is like that of a 10-12 year old. But I can write well and learn new stuff. However I noticed I can only grasp the basic stuff of things (especially lecture material in my courses) but not the more advanced, complex details while studying.
The problem also is that I find myself quite rigid and not open to new ideas.
I was wondering if I was autistic? People don't seem to want to talk to me. I noticed I tend to be a silent observer as though events and people are playing like a movie. I also wonder do I need psychological treatment? Do I have mental regression or something?

She never listens to me. For example...

I tell Mum something that actually benefits her, not me. She either is busy on the computer and ignores me, doesn't listen or starts up another conversation with someone else while I'm trying to tell her something.
Then 5minutes later, she'll come back and ask me a question about the thing I was just telling her.

It drives me insane.

Also, I was talking to her about my results for school and how close I am to getting into University, then she began to txt and change the subject to talk about my brother and how he was going surfing, right when I'm trying to talk to her about something important.

If it's really important I'll say 'Mum can you please just stop and listen to me' but she never does!!

What can I do? I'm giving up even

I have this feeling, that I used to know what I wanted and was more calm and composed. I think this has happened because I used to lack experience and now I'm in the process of gaining that life experience.

It's been 8 days since I filed for divorce, but then my husband astounded me by quitting drinking. He was never abusive. We actually had a great relationship when he wasn't drinking. I mostly couldn't stand that I couldn't have a decent conversation with him, that he seemed to be getting more and more depressed, and that I couldn't rely on him to be sober (to drive, to come with me to a public place, etc.). I filed for divorce last Friday, but when he poured all his beer out and said that he'd quit for me, I stopped the divorce. He has never said he'd quit in our 14 years together and all of my begging. I really think that he does want to succeed, but I have my doubts since he refuses to go to AA or counseling. Is it possible for an alcoholic to quit successfully on their own?

I have a girlfriend that loves me. I have enough money to tell my job to shove, and I did. They wanted me to go on the road. I'm taking a fireman's interview, getting my master in Engineering & Technical Managment, and I'm going to start my own business if I don't get the fireman thing. I almost have no signifigant worries and I have no negative influences around me. Why am I so lucky?

Everyone's got guilt. How do you just let go and forget that sex is supposed to be "dirty" in these religions? Is it the STDs people worry about these days? How is everyone out there?

Why do disparaging remarks or insults hurt?
I noticed that it hurts me when someone insults me or makes an unkind remark about me even if I know it's just words. I try to take things like a Buddhist. It seems like when someone insults me, I initially feel a bit of pain, psychologically. It's just a brief but sometimes prolonged and generally unpleasant feeling. I am able to concentrate and assess whether the remark is worth getting upset over. Usually then I get over it. I don't stay upset about it unless it's someone who's opinion I care about or if my reputation is being damaged. But there is still that initial brief pain that is felt when the remark is first made. I imagine this is the automatic thinking process that automatically accepts everything as true initially. Then controlled thinking follows. (If you're familiar with social psychology terminology)
Why is that?
Have there ever been studies done that show which areas of the brain are activated when an person is insulted?
