We retain memories in our subconscious, and when we sleep, and dream, those memories come out. There isn't necessarily a rhyme or reason to them, they just come together and they manifest themselves. They don't exactly mean anything. In your case, I would say that you are close with this friend, and the kiss, though it may seem like a sexual thing, is not. We give kisses to the people we love, and hugs as well. You can dream of kissing someone on the bum, that doesn't necessarily mean you're going to. It's just a symbolic gesture of comfort and caring.

I have. I had a dream that my crush and I were atop a colossal sand castle. The top caved in. We both fell. His fall seemed interminable. Everything went black. I found out that he had died. I woke up (in the dream) from the blackness and my family surrounded me. I told them that I knew I was going to die. Then I told each family member how much I loved them. I felt fatuiged in the dream. After telling each family member personally how much I loved them, everything went black. The first thing I thought when I woke up the next morning was: I'm not dead? The dream was in my thoughts the rest of the day.

God, yes. It happens quite frequently. You dream about a person you know and it completely alters the way you feel about them as if it had actually happened. I hate that. Yet, even though you know its a dream, it stays with you for quite a long time.
How come our brains can't differentiate between reality and a dream?

Definitely. Two days before I had a dream that some people are beating one small girl she died. I saw this in the morning and was very very upset as it was not going from my mind.
Accidently the same day I saw news in TV that people in Bihar (India)beat and killed 10 theives. If you are an Indian you should also have read it news papers two three days back. Right?
So This is my latest experience.

Oh yes. I dreamed my husband cheated on me, and I could barely look at him the next day.
When he asked me what was wrong i really laid into him as if he had actually done it! I knew it was illogical, but I couldnt help it!
I alo had a dirty dream about a guy in work, and I go red every time I see him now.

yes, most of time when I dream, I know I'm dreaming and it won't affect me when I wake up, but sometimes the dream is so real that I don't know I'm dreaming....even after I wake up for a long time, I dreamed my dad had car accident and died in ER, it felt so real that I cried woke up.....after about 5 minutes I just knew I was dreaming.
and the Dejavu phenomenon.

yes all the time. we dream because its our subconscience coming to life while we sleep and our imagination runs wild becase it can. sometimes our minds let slip on the things we really think or want but we deny it when were awake so while we sleep it allows us to think it. most of the time i wake up feeling greatful for certain things or in love with 'him' even more. and i think thats down to my subconcious telling me i should be feeling like this while im awake not just asleep.

I once dreamed about my boyfriend cheating on me, and I know he never would, but I was irrtitated with him for a while after that. Occasionally it still comes to mind, but it's easier to ignore.
To your brain dreams are as real as memories, so they can create the same reactions in your body.

I had several dreams of family members dieing and waking up in tears, makes you realise how much you care about them and how much it hurt when they go someday. Dreams are just dreams but SOMETIMES their trying to tell you something,

Yes, it always happens unconsciously, as said above. But those who affect me consciously were so great and enchanting that they changed my feelings the next day.
Some dreams can help us in making crucial decisions in our lives.. just we need to understand their language...
