Actually, I have learned that pain can be used as a motivator. It damn near killed me until I learned to look at the positive things in life. I used to be depressed, I'm battling with fibromyalgia, and I've all but overcome diabetes. You can either let things get to you or let them be just another challenge to overcome. Even if you can't overcome it, as is the case with fibromyalgia, you can still continue to fight it. Fighting can be fun, if you look at it the right way. Letting pain get to you is a form of resignation, I believe.

Definitely a better person. Although, some may not like me now because I'm somewhat outspoken about what works and what doesn't... despite what modern medicine might have to say about it. But that's their issue.

I learned to roll with the punches. In the early days I developed the mantra that sustained me: "This too will pass away", I'd repeat in my mind, silently, until the need was past. It has been some time since I have invoked the mantra. I no longer need it. It grew its own muscle and the strength to cope without effort is now a part of me.

Bitterness is an easy read in so many sad faces. Worst of all, it wreaks damage to your insides like an ulcer and it gets a strangle hold on your incentive so you start blaming and stop trying. I wouldn't give in to it.

I don't lean or in any way depend on others but I have been and am strong enough to provide support to others when it was needed. I've come a long way from the young person who, after listening to a loud disagreement between two people one day, realized that I didn't have any opinions on anything - and I worried about that. .

I have come to think of pain as a wakeup call to let you know you are alive and still have some fight in you. The gift of life being of the greatest value, is certainly worth the fight to get the most out of it to take you where you want to go, even if it is only to a mental or emotional place of peace..

The pain that I have suffered in my life has made me tougher. I am not bitter, I have accepted some horrible things so that I can go on with the rest of my life. I suppose that means that I am a stronger and better person for seeing the other side and coming back (it took awhile) smiling.

ALL experience is valuable to the human being, often times difficult painful hardship brings greater understanding, wisdom, perspective and a host of other positive emotions and feelings IF the person having the difficult experience will allow it.

Human beings unlike all other creatures have free agency & choice. We can be as happy or bitter as we choose.

Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You

I'm learning from my pain. I was bitter for a long time, but that was doing nothing but damaging me inside. I want to become a better person, so I've decided to learn from my pain.

My pain has made me more bitter, but a better person in the sense that I've learned from it. Better in the sense that I know what I want for myself now and wouldn't accept less again. But in my dealings with others...less trusting and more cynical. Also less naive and innocent.
