I was reading in my psychology book today about how people are very defensive about their self-concept (the way they seem themselves). People will often ignore or deny things that they have done so that they don't lower their self-concept. But, my book doesnt explain how one can come to realize that they need to face reality. But how can one do that without feeling terrible about themselves? Must they always have some sort of guilt inside for what they did? Is there a way that someone can face a bad experience/decision without feeling shame?

on ESB(electrical stimulation of the brain), this is where a couple of electrodes are connected to a certain part of the brain and electric current is sent there inducing euphoria. The government does not allow this considering it unethical. If we are as a nation to stand united and be free we should have the right to implant a switch in our brain to make ourself feel good. Eventhough this is a all consuming highly addictive feeling, we as humans(this overrides us as citizens) have the freedom to do with our body as we please. It is protected by our right under religion and pursuit of happiness. Why does the government prevent the use of ESB? Corporate America, companies do not want this to be the only pleasure causing device...think of how happy you feel when you buy a new car, computer, dvd, etc...now multiply that by thousands of times over, would you desire these things anymore? No, and therefore business will fail and so on. We can choose to commit suicide, we should be able to...

I want to be the best and if I can't be then I don't really see the point in trying? Is this destructive thinking?

Well, here is a good one..to try and figure out phsychologicaly why this man acts the way he does. (forgive if i misspelled)..anyway..this guy(husband actually) got upset at me and is harassing my friends by telling them the ''bad'' habits i have and that i am not the person they think i am. My friends actually know me better than my husband does cause they actually want to know me! But since i live with this creep he wants to ''get'' me by hanging out my ''dirty'' laundry which i will tell you aint that dirty..haha. just typical stupid stuff. no shockers that my friends would be horrified by. Why do you think he does this? What is going on in his pea brain? Can anyone tell me! I know he is insecure..duh..but what is the deep rooted problem. How do i address it? thank you for your time and help.

THIS IS A GUY QUESTION ONLY.

Guys what is the longest amount of time, you have gone shirtless? When you take off your shirt in in warm weather, what is your reason? Could you go a full week, without wearing a shirt?

Within each person there are actually different people.
There's the guy that just wants to stay in bed all day, or at least until noon,
There's the guy that just wants to gratify his food/sex or impulsive pleasures, and to hell with everything else
Then there's the guy that obsessively wants to achieve that lofty goal, and will work around the clock until the goal is achieved.

There are times when you know you have to switch from one mode to the other in order to adapt to the situation. Do you ever have difficulty doing this, and how do you accomplish it in those difficult times?

I feel like I'm very open minded about a lot of things, but I'm too persuadable. I take everything in and think about it, and this causes me to do some really stupid things. This may be because I don't think it over enough, or I don't listen to the right people. I just want to know how to stick to my own ideas when I need to, and how to bypass my judgment and listen to someone else when I need to.

Sometimes I get mad, but it's over really stupid things that I can't talk about because people will laugh and make me more angry. Then it stores itself inside me somewhere since I can't get it out. How can I vent this anger?

don't get me wrong, informing someone of a problem and asking for help is one thing, but when you have the complete ability to fix something for yourself why don't you instead of complaining and nagging other people
