Within each person there are actually different people.
There's the guy that just wants to stay in bed all day, or at least until noon,
There's the guy that just wants to gratify his food/sex or impulsive pleasures, and to hell with everything else
Then there's the guy that obsessively wants to achieve that lofty goal, and will work around the clock until the goal is achieved.

There are times when you know you have to switch from one mode to the other in order to adapt to the situation. Do you ever have difficulty doing this, and how do you accomplish it in those difficult times?

There is actually a psychological theory about this called individual systems psychology (I believe). I have learned about it, but would not be able to describe it here, both due to space and my limited exposure to this theory and therapy. Try to look i t up and see if it helps.

Doesn't everyone? *grin* During the more difficult times (like now, when I should actually be working), it helps to take a good, hard look at the consequences of gratifying each "personas" desires. If I screw off for the rest of the afternoon, then I'll have to work over the weekend to catch up. Conversely, on the nights when I might think about working late, but it means cancelling with my sister or my friends, and the project doesn't HAVE to be done by the next day, how will that impact my social/interpersonal relationships? The reward is finding that it becomes easier to bring balance into your life, and knowing that there are times when it really is okay to say "no" to someone/thing. :o)

Sometimes its tough...Emotions are hard to redirect for me.Like from grieving back to daily routine,or from anger to happiness..
My inner will just gets me back on track most the time and other times it takes more time to readjust, but eventually I do..Humor helps alot too..=)

I am at peace with myself. What needs to be done, needs to be done. There are no other options.
