don't get me wrong, informing someone of a problem and asking for help is one thing, but when you have the complete ability to fix something for yourself why don't you instead of complaining and nagging other people

Laziness, insecurity, the need for approval from others. But usually, just laziness and low will power. That's typically what prompts people to complain instead of just taking action and solving their own problems.

I don't believe in complaining a lot, however there is a time and place to do it. For example, while eating at a local restaurant that gave us really bad service, the person with me didn't want to complain or say anything. I chose to complain. The manager was very apologetic and gave us a complimentary meal voucher if we would come back. No problems since then. Keep in mind that usually we complain just to hear ourselves.

You are absolutely right. But this leads to another view - that talking to onesself can be of benefit in this subject: If Im talking out loud going over a decision, just really getting a grasp of it this way , it gives one the answer. Therefore. no complaining is needed. bettyk

Personally I think its just a way to get out of doing something they don't want to do themselves...Lame I know, but often necessary if its a matter of teaching independence,as if to a child, but it can be a ploy on someones part to be just that = a lame excuse..=)

I totally agree. Complaining is fine. But when you complain about something that you don't intend to do something about, that's called whining. And whining is bad, mmmkay?
