on ESB(electrical stimulation of the brain), this is where a couple of electrodes are connected to a certain part of the brain and electric current is sent there inducing euphoria. The government does not allow this considering it unethical. If we are as a nation to stand united and be free we should have the right to implant a switch in our brain to make ourself feel good. Eventhough this is a all consuming highly addictive feeling, we as humans(this overrides us as citizens) have the freedom to do with our body as we please. It is protected by our right under religion and pursuit of happiness. Why does the government prevent the use of ESB? Corporate America, companies do not want this to be the only pleasure causing device...think of how happy you feel when you buy a new car, computer, dvd, etc...now multiply that by thousands of times over, would you desire these things anymore? No, and therefore business will fail and so on. We can choose to commit suicide, we should be able to...

Robert is the only one who seems to understand the underlying point of this statement. It is not this that bothers me just that we as HUMANS have the right to our bodies, if I CHOOSE to jump off of a bridge, I can do it and nobody can stop me, why are there heroin and other illicit drugs on the streets then...it is illegal but still HAPPENING, human desire always overcomes laws because human desire is the laws of nature which always superceed government laws, if I lived in Antartica I could do anything could I not? So why not here is my point. We are being fooled by the laws set forth by this so smart government who can't wipe their own asses without 50 advisers to tell them where it is under all that belly fat(metaphor). I seem to waste my time making people understand this, no wonder why only 1/4 americans graduate college. You believe what you are told, so if the president says so it is ok, until he tells you to shoot your family and then bury yourself. Would you do it then??? Yes.

Okay. So you think we ought to be able to effect an artificial euphoria upon ourselves if we so choose. Now once you have done this all the great moments that come naturally in life, such as watching your child being born, achieving a goal you've been striving for all of your life, being pronounced married to the woman of your dreams, etc... would no longer be crowning achievements emotionally because they wouldn't feel near as good as the times you unnaturally stimulated yourself. Talk about depressing, I wold run away from anything that threatened to rob me of the feelings these natural life milestones would provide.

Note: Regarding your update, we are not lacking intelligence because we happen to disagree with your take on things. No one implied you are stupid as you have done by stating "no wonder only 1 in 4 finishes college." You asked a question and were supplied with opinions. Many people found your "question" and perspective strange. Perhaps our desires have more to do with how we choose to live and are not based on how the government would have us choose. That the two agree is in this case a comforting coincidence.

Did you know where that part of the brain is? People have been stimulating it before they were human by eating. Eating has much fewer side effects, its legal, and people sometimes eat so much they cannot fit into cars, if they could walk to them. Plus they have the added stimulation of tasting many dainty morsels. Well, ifyou want to implant some electrodes instead, know that it is near the base if the brain in humans and many other neurons would probably be destroyed before the electrodes reached there. I am not sure how long the electrodes would take to corrode, but we wouldn't have to worry about killing ourselves with pleasure, the procedure would probably do that in a shorter time.

Euphoria is not the same as happiness, addiction is detrimental to all of society. If TV has caused rampant obesity, what will your brain tickler do for American health? Won't your esb just create a monopoly that will turn Americans into little crack whores.

Wrong, the government has guns and your a slave. The agreement is you pretend to be free and they will not shoot you. The ESB would prevent you from working and breeding same as most drugs. The government would then have nobody to exploit. Suicide is illegal because dead people cannot be exploited.
