Hey, I need some advice. Church camp is right around the corner, in one month, and since I am not very social and tend to spend my spare time on the computer, I need some help to overcome my anti-socialness and have longer conversations. I'm going to be spending a week with other Christains. Another problem is I don't know what to talk about, because everything I do isn't very christain, like playing violent computer games and always arguing with my family or smokin it up with my brother. What can I do to stop being so anti-social and what kinds of things could I talk about? I sometimes get real nervous when I'm talking and stutter when someone puts me on the spot. HELP PLEASE!!!

I mean, your mind is an extremely powerful tool to manipulate your body. It can bolster your immune defense by simply thinking positive (or slow it drastically by thinking negative and giving into despair when ill), controlling fears, and so on. Psychologists use a vareity of methods to help patients end phobias. I'm sure there's ways of changing your sexual perception as well. Take for instance someone who wishes to end a habit of drinking sodas. Once or twice a day, this person will stop what they are doing, and vividly imagine a picture in their mind. In the imagery, the person places the bottle to their lips, about to take a drink. Suddenly, hundreds of roaches swarm out of the bottle and enter the mouth, feelers and legs moving rapidly. Surpisingly, I've heard of people using this technique to quit certain habits. You simply re-train your brain to think differently about a particular subject. I have to admit that recently I've thought less and less about the same sex.

How do you deal with someone who you know you might bump into and were merely acquainted-but not sure how the person feels about you-you think they don't like for reasons that sound ligit, if out of no where you bump into them, do you just act like nothing happened and even call them out by their name or do you pretend they are not there?..this person knows I know their name and knows me-but do I act naive?..thanks.

does anyone know a good motivation , self help website ?
i believe like Rocky ... " it is not how hard you get hit and stand up which matters .. but how hard you can get hit and keep moving ..... " is that a good mantra to have ?

The other day I was istalling equipment at a walmart that was being remodeled. There was a girl that worked at walmart that was assigned to make sure merchandise wasnt being brought over to the side of the store that was being worked on .As I walked by ,seeing that her job was probably very boring, I jokingly commented on her job. She laughed. But now every time I walk by I feel compelled to say something funny but I have nothing to say.It gets kind of awkward.I can tell she feels compelled to be polite and say something too. This happens to me alot.

I am on the quiet side at school, and people get so frustrated with me, why does everyone have to be loud mouthed individuals? What's wrong with someone who is not a big mouth?

I'm a single woman without children who recently turned 40. I had no idea that I would be feeling such loss over doors that have closed, even the unrealistic "I want to be rich and famous!" kind. I realize that I am still young, life isn't over and anything could happen, but I guess I'm sad that I didn't turn out to be "special."
My accomplishments include a solid career and I earn enough to pay my bills...not exactly the stuff of novels.

This must be my mid-life crisis. For those who have been through it, what happens next? How do you reconcile the feelings of disappointment?

If so, in what situations? Does your style of "levity vs. challenge" change to suit the occasion? Your first-hand experiences are most welcome.

I just can't settle and get work done during the day, no matter how much I know it needs to get done - instead I have found for my entire academic life I can only really get substantial amounts of work done during the night...I find during the day there are too many distractions that take my attention...is it possible I have ADHD?

I remember as a kid a teacher telling my parents I needed to have my hearing checked because she found I frequently wouldn't pick up what was said in class but I passed the hearing test perfectly - I also remember being told I was hyper as a kid and would be 'up for anything'...I have always been forgetful, I have forgotten many of my own birthdays...

I'm moving into psychology at the moment and am writing a paper on ADHD and that is why I have begun to think I might have a mild form of it.

I am not someone who hears about a syndrome or disease and thinks I have it...just to clarify.

I always feel so well nervous. I try to hid myself as much as I can because I hate my body figure although my mom says I'm completely normal. But I'm different from my class who all are the tall thin type and I'm the short (but not a mini) and thin to normal. I'm smart and all but in gym claass my instructor always gets mad at me for not having confidence. Which lowers any confidence i have.

My friend says I look somewhere between goth and geek. So I feel kind of wierd about that. I don't really have a lot of friends, only one best friend. I feel like no one else likes me but no one's rude to me right in my face.

I hate my hair but I plan to have it changed soon but right now I'm soo nervous.

Anyways my confidence right now is at a -5 (yes MINUS 5) so I really need help and someway to boost my confidence.

My sister shared with me that two nights ago Jadin (my 3 year old niece) woke up crying at 4AM. My sister turned on Jadin's light and when she did Jadin asked her how her Care Bares looked. My sister told her that they were fine, but that wasn't good enough for her. At that point Jadin got up out of bed and went over to her Care Bares and began straighting them. Jamie then told me that earlier that night before Jadin went to bed she had spent about 20 minutes trying to get her Care Bares perfectly lined up and the exact same distance from each other.

She told me another story about Jadin being obsessed with the amount of milk in her sippy cup. Jadin wants her sippy cup to be filled to an exact amount and Jadin loses control if Jamie or her husband go over that amount. Jamie said that they aren't allowed to pour out a little bit of milk to get it at Jadin's desired level. They have to pour ALL of the milk and start over with an empty cup. More stories, but not enough room.

okay this is an excerpt from a 2 page paper that is supposed to be like the first two pages of a novel. I wanted to post more but not enough room :[[

I wasn’t always this way. Well, maybe I was, but even I couldn’t realized the extent of quandaries. I don’t realize the extent yet to come even no. Is it dangerous? Very. Until I am sure if…No, what is wrong with me, I just smile, sit pretty, and put on my ‘faraway eyes’. Everyone around me is just so tightly wrapped around my finger that it’s sick. I’m practically thinking two thoughts at once every day. A.) My psychotic whirlwind of confusion and clarity; Or B.) What would I be thinking two years ago that will make all of these people pass me by? Even just two months my mind wasn’t this ambiguous. I was blissful in the mask from the reality I knew soon to come. As predicted, my world went from late night phone calls and rolled-eyes to Advil and fake smiles. Yeah, things change.

i mean people like doctors/gps, library workers, library clerks, post office workers, store employess, people who work in department stores.
i experience this kind of subtle, underhanded not easliy detectable behaviour alot and i get angry and worked up about it, and it also makes me very depressed because i dont no how to deal with it and handle it.
ive had bpd for 15 years, with very low moods, low self esteem, and problems with rage, and when i experience this constantly from these people it doesnt help to defeat the notion that everyones against me. i have paranoia about this anyway, so when i encounter this behaviour, it makes me believe that its true that people in authority are against me or any people for that matter
