I have...because I just got tired of living and had little control over my life. Life can be difficult under the best of circumstances.
I don't think I would have actually done it, but it was comforting to know that I could if things didn't get better. Things always got better, though, and I am very glad to be here.

I have considered suicide many times. In fact I considered it last night. My wife and I have been having some serious issues and it hurts me a lot. I agree with the last post; it's really hard to explain to someone that has not gone through it. However, I always get through it (obviously). I try to think of all of the things that I have to live for: My kids, hope that my wife will be more understanding, my career, etc. Most of all it is important for me to just stop and occupy my mind with something. The feeling goes away after a while, at least for me. In answer to your question, as best as I can answer it, people feel like suicide when they feel that there is just nowhere else to go in life, they are stuck. This can range from losing love and feeling that you will never get any again, losing a child, losing a job and feeling that you will never succeed, etc.

The question is 'What makes a person consider suicide' rather that 'Why a person considerd suicide'.

Depression, pain, suffering drive people to this option. And the thought that things will *not* get better in the future is what pushes them over the edge. If there is a solution ahead that they can see in their future, like graduation and a job, surgery, then they can keep themselves alive for that.

But if there is no solution in sight that the person can see, it seems as if things will only get worse. And they snap.

Lot of us say that it is selfish and cowardly, I tend to disagree to some extent. It is just that things that are beyond one's control and the idea that it will only get worse and worse drive the person to these acts.

If you are thinking about it, please talk to someone. Anyone. Family, friends, doctor, anyone. Even strangers here on YA are extremely helpful and thoughtful to give you some good advice.

I wouldn't say I've seriously considered suicide, but I have thought about it. It's hard to explain it if you haven't experienced it, though. It's kind of like this: you know how when something really good happens to you and you just feel better and better? That's because your mind is caught in a loop and just keeps producing more and more seratonine (the chemical that makes you feel good).

People who are suicidal often have brains that don't produce very much seratonine. They feel bad for no reason, and then their mind gets caught in a loop and they just feel worse and worse until they don't want to live no more.

To me, the more important question is 'why wouldn't I consider suicide?' For me, I wouldn't consider it because even when I feel so depressed that it feels like I'll never feel normal again I know that something will happen eventually to snap me out of it. It's like in the movie Castaway. You just have to remind yourself that the sun WILL rise again.

Also, life is kind of like a TV show. If you turn it off halfway through, then you'll never know how it would have ended.

Edit: Okay, about anti-depressants: it really depends on who you are. If you're feeling bad enough to take your life then it's a good idea to go to a doctor just in case. Just be honest with him about how you feel and they'll know if you need counseling or anti-depressants or whatever. There's nothing wrong with taking anti-depressants if you really need them; just like there's nothing wrong with putting a cast on a broken arm.

we are a repercussion of our own societies.......everything is based on 2 aspects 1st. what we think we deserve. 2nd.what we really need.

social studies have shown that every child that is born has a debt of £19.000 and it increases with age.psychological illnesses have quadrupled in the last 6 decades, although living conditions have improved but at what cost - the average persons income is not enough to suffice him/her minimum requirements to live.and we have a culture of 'earn and consume' so for every British pound you get 80p is returned to the source that payed you, threw diff rent mediums of course..weather it's insurance,or education.I'll give you an example ( the make up industry maybellene)have found a formula, for every child who is aborted they reproduce those liquid fluids and reproduce them to create foundation and other products etc and then sell it back to you.
i could gone on but my point is 'life is something that bears it's own importance but we have an inherent right to live well even if it's part of our destiny to die' an Arabic proverb

Generally the majority of ppl that consider, or commit suicide are between the ages of 14-23 after one gets to this age, life hope increases for many people,

i have never really allowed myself to even think about taking the life God gave me, its up to him. i think we can choose to think about it, but must avoid it at all costs.

Please see my response to this type of question on the question i answered before this one.

Peace be with you

This may sound weird but there have been times I wished I was dead but I never considered suicide

this is hard to understand unless you've been depressed. when you're depressed you can't think straight, everything seems hopeless. right now, I am okay with life and it's hard to even understand why I ever contemplated suicide myself. Basically I felt that I hit rock bottom and my life would be a failure
