I just can't settle and get work done during the day, no matter how much I know it needs to get done - instead I have found for my entire academic life I can only really get substantial amounts of work done during the night...I find during the day there are too many distractions that take my attention...is it possible I have ADHD?

I remember as a kid a teacher telling my parents I needed to have my hearing checked because she found I frequently wouldn't pick up what was said in class but I passed the hearing test perfectly - I also remember being told I was hyper as a kid and would be 'up for anything'...I have always been forgetful, I have forgotten many of my own birthdays...

I'm moving into psychology at the moment and am writing a paper on ADHD and that is why I have begun to think I might have a mild form of it.

I am not someone who hears about a syndrome or disease and thinks I have it...just to clarify.

It's a possiblity that you have ADHD, but I wouldn't jump the gun. You should see a doctor for a diagnosis at some point, however.

Before going home to study, take a long walk outdoors in nature--this helps to make you feel better, and is healthy as well.

Burn lavender candles or incense before you start to study--as it is very relaxing.

Meditate, or learn to from books found at the public library--this clears the mind--and may help you to study.

Cut out caffeine (cola, coffee, regular tea, energy drinks, Mountain Dew, chocolate, etc), as this can make you edgy, jumpy and nervous.

Try some Chamomile or Sleepytime Tea, and other herbal teas that are calming, relaxing, etc. You can drink it hot, or make it, refrigerate it and drink it cold. They also make decaffeinated green tea--this is good for you.

Good luck.

It is possible you have ADD or ADHD, if you are also hyperactive, but it is also possible that you have a mild mood disorder. I would check it out with a psychiatrist if it begins to interfere with your daily activities; if it does not interfere, well, keep an eye on it. Being active all day and working on school work at night must take a toll on your system, or at least it will in time.
