Do you think dreams have meaning other than just your subconscious trying to express something through mind visions that you're waking moments won't allow you to express (does that make sense?)
Anyways, so do dreams mean anything, do you think?

I haven't dated since college. I'm just now asking women to meet me for coffee. I asked five women this year and every one of them said no. They have no idea about my illness. Be nice please.

i recently decided to get help bc i am a cutter. i made the mistake of telling my family about it and they called me everything under the sun, which made me feel even worse about myself. I have gathered information, i have told them in my own words and i have made them watch programs and yet the still insist that i'm just crazy and stupid and that i need to be locked away for life. Is there anything else i can do that will convince them that just bc i cut doesnt mean that i'm a skitso/serial killer?

This an over simplification: "Aw honey it is okay that you could not help being rude because that is the nature of being depressed. Your depression makes you rude its an illness that can't be help. If people cannot accept you being rude screw them" This really goes on in some support groups.

I am recovering from a few personality disorders which includes depression and anxiety,,, I have learnt new behavors and attitudes that bring little vacations from my depression and anxiety. It took years of self-growth, courage, and devoted earnest honest therapists and some readng... but it worked.

If yes, what do you know about it?
Can you define it easily?
What are views on autism?
Have you ever met a person with autism?

I especially want to hear from siblings or parents of children with autism spectrum disorders, but I would also like to hear from others who have dealt with this disease. Please share your experiences, if you have any.

This is not for research. I am asking only out of curiosity.

For some time now and lately quite often, I will suddenly remember dreams or moments from dreams I´ve had over the years. Regardless of what I´m doing at the time, vivid images/memories suddenly slip into my mind and I can perfectly recall a dream, sometimes even dreams I had when I was a child (36 now). It´s similar to when you remember a scene from a movie you watched many years ago. It kind of freaks me out because I don´t understand why this happens and also because it occurs frequently. Any ideas?

Always right before I go to bed, I start to think about the negative things that make me sad. For instance, right now I am going through having been rejected by someone who seriously led me on who had my hopes up so high (thanks for those of you who have followed this saga) and now, as I get ready for bed, I am starting to think about it again and I feel like I am going to cry again. I mean how much can one person cry???

At this point I realize I am completely alone. I need to do something to pull myself up out of these thoughts. Problem is, at this point, I feel the one thing left I have to dream about is finding someone. I can't even have pleasant thoughts about that because I feel like it's hopeless.

What do you do to reign in negative thoughts when you sense they are getting the better of you?

Hello. I've been reading about Ebbingaus' forgetting curve, theories on memory, and I've probably read a few chapters on long term memory from the library, but I can't find an answer to this question that's been depressing me for the last week, and I was hoping someone here might be able to enlighten me.

Suppose a person goes to university and gets a Ph.D in a particular field. Lets say they become experts in one area of study, example intelligence testing, or they get a Ph.D in math and become an expert in topology or something. Assume they study it for years and would be considered an absolute world class expert on this subject.

Okay...now hypothetically, lets say there's some situation where this person is forced not to think about this information in their expert field for 50, 100, or 1000+ years (I know that sound crazy lol, but just to make a point).

Would ANY of the information that this person once knew be intact, or would it all diminish if not thought about over time...

In short, my question is: Is it possible for someone to ever truly memorize something Permanently, so the information is permanent stored in their memories, regardless of the amount of time that passes by? or does it have to be continuously reenforced over time, regardless of how many years the person spent learning the material....

i heard somewhere that ur dreams are an extension of ur mind or something like that. well, if thats true, than if i have nightmares everynight (which i almost always do, or they're really strange, creepyish), than what does that mean? or if its the total opposite? what kind of state is my mind in? can what i dream be affected by what has happened in my life? i aint sayin what happened in my life tho. too dramatic TT~TT

According to Freud (important note there, according to FREUD) the ID drives us all, and also, all the ID wants is sex and aggression. Now if men in society are thought to want those two things way more than women, in your opinion/Freud's opinion, would it be a male victory that we can achieve that so much easier than women without as many social repercussions etc?

I find that interesting that men have been whitled down to such enjoyable steryotypes while women seem to have gotten the short end of the stick

This particular state happened to me often, but not as often over the recent weeks. Sometimes I cannot recall it until a while after I am fully awake. Usually I realize it the moment I become fully awake. The state is this: after sleep, I feel awake. I may even open my eyes. I have many thoughts. Sometimes the thoughts are about a dream I just had. Sometimes it seems like there was no dream before I came into this state.

I am aware of being in my room, and “feel” as thought I am more conscious than I am. The one distinguishing feature of this state is my lack of audio detection. I do not hear anything. I know this because my awareness continues from this state to when I am fully conscious. That is to say, I am thinking, and am aware of myself thinking, until at one moment I become fully aware of both my thinking and my surroundings, and all my senses kick in.

The transition has been quite drastic some mornings, as the second I become “normally” aware, I hear the birds (or w/e).
