Closed off the world around them? Separate themselves from society altogether? I know someone like this and it's a very sad situation. She's been through a great deal of trauma but used to be one of the most kind hearted people I have ever met. I don't have a clue what's going on with her. Thanks for your answers.

I've been trying to learn more about this. It doesn't seem like people appreciate happy people. Also, there seems not to be room in this world for happy people. Why should a happy person continue to be happy?

And why do women like to be spanked more than men? Why do men like spanking women?

Does it have something to do with being spanked as a child? Self worth issues, self destructive behavoir, other problems?

And what is somebody supossed to do when they're getting spanked? Just stand there and look at the wall?

Yes. This is an actual inquiry. I'm not interested in fake answers.

I hate being shy and finding it so hard to just be not so dumb and just make friends like a normal person. What can I do to achieve that though?

Neighbor can be so nice. Then when least expected is very insulting, domineering, disrespectful of women. When he is ignored, he wants to know why. When told, he denies his actions, gets angry and starts with new insults. Don't know how to handle this person.

I'd be really interested to see a study into this - nerds really do seem to have adenoid problems and gay men often (not always of course) speak with a high voice.

what do you think of those cd's that 'affirm' positive qualities to the mind? Your suppose to sleep all night listening to it until you deeply believe it.

I'm not sure how to ask this or where it shoud be categorized (maybe religion and spirtuality?).

We've all seen how people of different religous faiths seem VERY convinced that their belief is true. But they must know (at least on some level) that they COULD be wrong.

I see this also in believers of astrology, alien abduction, psychics and so on. They all must be aware that most people do not believe in the things that they do, and they must be aware that science does not confirm what they believe.

So how do they go on saying with so much certianty that their version of reality is the correct one?

I mean, as a scientist, I don't think I would ever go aroud asserting anything as the absolute truth, and I always add qualifications such as "this is my current understanding."

I don't have a background in psychology so I'm wondering what people think.

Thanks

Like, what makes you gravitate toward certain people to socialize with them and what makes you want to get away from others?

What do people do or say that makes you feel really bad?

It's a high-pitched tone that supposedly only people under age 20 can hear. (yes, like a human dog whistle)
A co-worker of mine "played" it and I could hear it but another co-worker could not.
Im a thirtysomething so I was flattered.
If you have heard of it, what is it's purpose?

last night i had a dream, or nightmare, that a few people (men) in my life died in somethin that seemed like tomb. (This winter break i went to universal studios and went on a ride on the revenge of the mummy and got sooo freaked out. i dont know if that has anything to do with the dream though.) So they were all in boxes and burning to death and one was my boyffriend, one was my step dad, and one was my brother. I went in to get them but it was too late. only their heads were left. but later in the dream, i went to dinner at my boyfriends house and everything was normal. This was last night and i am soooooo freaked out and definitley confused and im sure you are too.....i might not have explained it so well either....PLEASE HELP!!!

Where do I look? Google is out, and the articles must be submitted with the paper. I have never done this kind of research. All I know is to hide in the library and dig thru stacks of dusty journals, and that is not recommended for this project. Thanks!
