Do women like to be spanked more than men? I wouldn't be certain about that. I know a lot of women who love being spanked, true - but then again I'm not out there actively searching for men who want to be spanked, as that's not my thing. My guess would be that the numbers are about equal.
Why do women like it? All kinds of reasons, no doubt. But a lot enjoy it as a safe way of ceding control, as well as the ritual and role-playing that often goes with it. Also the bottom is a highly erogenous zone, sharing nerve-systems with the genitals - so the heat of a good spanking soon suffuses the whole area.
Why do I like spanking women? I'd need several pages to go into that properly. But for me, nothing enhances the beauty of a soft, shapely female bottom like a hot rosy blush. And having a bare-bottomed girl wriggling and squirming across my lap is a huge turn-on.
Some people reckon it's sparked by childhood spankings, but I find that too simplistic. I've known too many exceptions - girl who were spanked but still don't like it, girls who weren't but do, etc - to believe that explanation.

All of your reasons are true in some cases. I think with some guys it is about male bonding and nostalgia. I know some guys feel they need to be spanked to make up for past sins. I have also read of guys who are spanked as adults because it seems to get them back on track. I think these are some of the reasons Frats are so famous for spanking. Also allot of spankings are for dares or tests of Manhood. From what I can tell I would say more guys like, or at least feel a need for spanking.
As to what to do. It depends on the spanker, the spankee, the environment and the reason. If it is serious, for discipline or punishment then generally the spankee is to stay in position, whatever that may be, or he is assisted in staying in position. Honestly enough if the spanking is done right he will be wailing before the end of it.

Well as a boy I did not LIKED tio be spanked or punished. I was spanked only twice when I was about 6 years old. I cried. At primary school Corporal punishment was used, hand smacking of the backs of hands for boys & girls, and the cane on boys (only) palms. I had my had smacked three times there. The only other time I ever got smacked as a real punishment. BUT when about14 a group of us young children played a game we called schools. The girl who was teacher would bend us over her lap and spank us with her hand. The first time this happened to me, I instantly "LIKED" being spanked by a young girl!. I think there are many answers for this one. I will say that control and some sexual interest does play a part for some. I have had 2 gfs that did indeed enjoy being spanked to my surprise.I think that it was quite interesting . I am sure there are other answers with other people, there is no one answer since people are so diverse and like and dislike the same thing for different reasons.

I am not aware that it is necessarily related to being spanked as a child and it is certainly nothing to do with any depressed self-worth.
Strangely enough, I've never given any thought about what I do whilst being spanked. I suppose I concentrate on not making an exhibition of myself!
