Consider the alternative...being unhappy. THAT'S the point of being happy. Happiness isn't a permanent condition. It's a temporary feeling that comes from things going your way, your needs being met...achieving a goal, having some good fortune, doing something well, having a great experience, being with great people. The opposite? Frustration, disappointment, misery, pain, loss. It takes a lot of work and character strength to achieve times of happiness...life is tough and it isn't easy to meet its challenge to get the things that matter most to you.

If you put it this way it sounds like it would be a really selfish thing to be happy!
I'm not a very happy person most of the time. When I see happy people I usually think they are faking it.

In life we have people that are positive (happy) and we have people that are negative ( unhappy). Now the happy people tend to associate with other happy people and have happy lifes,( fame and fortune). The others aren't so lucky, they go through life with lots of problems and nobody wants to listen. Of course the choice is yours, what would you choose.

I can only speak for myself... Being happy makes my life wonderful !!! Whether someone appreciates my happiness is none of my business nor my concern. This attitude has proven to work well for ME.
I see many people who do not like my happiness, so I simply laugh at them and their miserable lives.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh life IS fair and GOOD !!

Because happiness comes naturally from feeling good about yourself, and how you treat others. You can sleep good at night knowing that you have treated others the way you would want to be treated. People who live with guilt, bad attitudes,or suspicion are generally that way because of how they have treated others.
Attitude truly is a "state of mind".

I don't see why a happy person should cease to be happy. If people are miserable around them, then the happy person doesn't necessarily have to choose to join them in their misery.

What's the point in being miserable?
I choose to be happy because being sad/mad all the time sucks. It's no fun and people really don't like you then.

Darkness is always dispelled by light. More powerful. Gives life. The world is filled with a rancid, filthy darkness of soul. It's bad for business for that nonentity to be challenged. See? Of course, nobody ever said it would win.
