Gender Studies - January 2007

A long time ago men where superior to women, and that has now changed, it's supposed to be equal now, but some men still get better jobs, but that's not what my question is about.

I was watching a show and a woman got pulled over by a police officer (male) and he charged her for speeding. It was as all caught, on the police camera at the front. She never got out the car, and he just gave her the ticket. She went to a police station the next day and claimed that he sexually assaulted her. They said if there was no camera to prove her wrong, he might have ended up in jail and lost his job.

If a woman starts beating a man, and he hits her back for self defense, she could call the police, show the mark, and the man will most likely get put into jail or charged.

Some women say men are stupid, arrogant, and rude, yet it's mostly men who are in Iraq fighting for our freedom, and most police officer and fire fighters are men. Women can do those jobs too, but still mostly men.

I have a friend from high school who was a feminist who made an interesting comment once and I was wondering if women out there agree with it. She said that some (not all) women who are lesbians are so because they think that having a relationship with a man is dirty (in a bad way) and having a relationship with another woman is much "cleaner". I have nothing against homosexuals, I was just wondering if there is truth to this statement or if it is more just her opinion.

....I see this on bumper stickers. I'm sure it's mostly true. In addition to the above question, why the fear of being well-behaved, and the pride in behaving badly? Being well behaved does not have to mean being overly accomodating, being taken advantage of, or not being assertive.

Now that the words 'pimp', 'trick' have become mainstream, what does that say about women? We all know that women and girls are still being abducted, raped and murdered everyday.

These are derogatory terms used to degrade women and the monsters who use them to earn money. Why doesn't American society ever stand up for women? Women's Liberation shouldn't even be a term. We have fewer rights in the world, regardless of color than any men. We are the prey and terms like these just reinforce that view.

Think it's time to step up and take our dignity back?

One day I hung out with my cousin's friend. He was cute and charming. At the end of the day told him I'm a hooker cuz I've always wanted t find out if any guy would pay me just to have sex with them. Amsterdam - cities which have legalized prostitution in one form or the other - have fewer rape incidents than say, New York City where it is still illegal and hence, underground and controlled by the Mafia. I think prostitutes help unease the mental and relationship vacuums in the lives of many single men, especially Expats who might otherwise resort to rape, or at least unwarranted sexual molestation in the work place. Not all men can have live under vow of abstinence.
