When I was in a couple state prisons and two county coolers
I saw several same-sex prostitutes openly market their services
to general populations and the paid staff but never saw same
traffic reduce the higher numbers of sexual assaults. Rape in
penal systems, like elsewhere, is non-consensual and involves
criminal behavior. Personally, I favor branding the letter "R" on
right cheek of all second convictions of rape by either sex. Would
it help stop unconvicted Expats from turning the other cheek?

what your saying makes great sense, but unfortunately not for the minds of rapists, rape isn't about gagging for sex and not being able to get "any"
maybe a few cases have involved that but only a few!
rape is another form of abuse, rapists have the need to over power and humiliate their victims.
the rapist needs their victims to be unwilling, other wise it's not full-filling thier sexual desires, which is the need to over power, control and create fear ect. they often use extreme force and violence and thats how they get their sexual gratification and power. rape is an act of violence, and nothing more.
these men have serious problems and can only ever stop if they are rehabilitated.
i don't no how to explain why there is less rapes in countries where prostitution is legalised, but prostitutes are often raped because they are easy targets, and maybe so are some in countries where its legalised.

Rape is not just about sex. A rapist wants the victim to have total submission - having legal prostitution is not going to change - most rapes the victim already knows the person - they are NOT strangers but rather people that the victim would consider friends and would trust. Rape by unknown assailants is rare and extremely violent - many times resulting in severe injury and death - the ultimate power trip. Prostitution does have its place in teaching and keeping males (and females) happy - but I would be very weary where you go

Not at all and anyone who thinks that is a damn fool. Prostitutes on average get raped 5-10 times a year, and that's each individual prostitute. Not only that but prostitution legal or illegal can be used as a front for human trafficking which in itself is serial rape.

In medieval France, it certainly was used, successfully, to combat rape. Since so many women had died from childbirth, the plague, whatever, men greatly outnumbered women. They actually roved in gangs, and would kidnap girls from their houses, and gang-rape them. Of course, were the girl a servant, she'd lose her position (double-standards of purity, etc.), and would be in some serious trouble.
The prostitutes were so highly regarded that these women received honors from local officials; one madame married a mayor or lord chancellor-type person, I believe. It's been years since I read this book, but I do remember some things about it.
As for now, I'm not sure how I feel about prostitution and rape. Is it still rape if someone abuses a prostitute? Of course, but these women are probably less likely to report it or to call it rape. Prostitutes are in such precarious positions, anyway.
And I agree that the way a modern rapist thinks and operates is quite different: different impulses, different environment and culture, different understandings of women.
My solution to end rape is rather bloody and dramatic, and would probably get me kicked off of here, were I to share it.

Rape is an act of violence, not of 'desire'. You don't know what the hell you are talking about. I needn't go beyond your second sentence: the 'fact' that prostitution is legal in Vancouver would be a real surprise to Van City cops!!!!!!!!!!
Free tip of the day: get yourself an education. At the VERY least, make certain your so-called facts are indeed facts: you are embarassing yourself.

They may not have fewer rapes, just fewer reported rapes, which may not have anything to do with legalized prostitution.
Also, you're assuming all sex between a prostitute and a customer are paid for. Many prostitutes are raped, beaten and killed. How many prostitutes do you think are going to report a rape?
However,I do think prostitution should be legalized as it is ridiculous to pretend it won't exist if it is illegal. Legalization would allow the police to focus on age limits, disease/medical checks and taxes.

No. Believe it or not, many prostitutes are victims of rape too. They have the right to refuse giving service if their clients harrass them in any way.. They are often sujected to violence, and men refuse to pay them. Rapists are f***ked up anyway, and may be more turned on at the thought of overpowering an unwilling victim rather than just getting it "over the counter".

I disagree. Rape is typically not about availability of sex but rather power and aggression. Equally, at least in the US, many prostitutes are raped themselves. Those countries mentioend have lower crime rates in general than the US, across the board. Not for the reasons you suggest, but I think prostitution should legal.

That's a lot of crap! Prostitution is not the answer in decreasing the number of rape cases. Prostitution is also another form of violence against women and yet they legalized it!? Those idiots!!! Let's see what would they feel if they sold their bodies.
