Women aren't "inferior" to men. Women have more spinal connections between their left and right parts of their brain (left part of brain is for logic and mathematics and controls the right part of the body - right side of the brain is creative and imaginative and controls the left part of the body). This makes it hard for some women to tell which hand is which immediately because to their brain both hands are equal (I have a problem too with that.)
As for the maps, men have the natural ability to turn a 2D drawing (namely, a map) into a street, road, building, etc... That is called spatial ability. However, unless the cartographers suddenly started to draw 3D maps, women found it difficult to read a map, because they have adapted to need less spatial ability. The same was for verbal instructions (turn left after five miles from this spot, etc...). That is why when some women look at maps when they are going South they need to turn the map upside down. I'm not saying that this goes for all women, just some (I have no trouble with maps).
If this makes some people think that women are inferior, than please read the books listed below.

Maybe it's all a bit Misty and I don't know my head from my toes, either.
Women do know their left from their right - but men still seem to say that they will follow their own way. What's the point? Somehow I'll find my way home! If Mr driving car would stop to ask for directions, he wouldn't have a problem! Women have no problem with that!
Do ALL women turn a road map upside down to find the way.....?

I don't think it's just women, but I can be like that. I have a friend that when he is trying to show me something he'll say the one on your right and when I go left he'll say your other right. Funny but true. I don't turn maps upside down though

Fun question, great answers!
I turn the map so that whatever way I am traveling down a road, the map is laid out that way. Makes "left" and "right" easier!

Most women .... (a very biased opinion of our female population by a male chauvinist driver, I presume)
Well the answer is easy if MOST WOMEN knew their left from their right they would do the following:
Not choose the man who they thought was Mr Right (like your wife I presume) and rapidly exit stage left!
Then to be able to hold the map any way up they want and find themselves going in the direction THEY wished to go.

That's exactly what my husband says of me. I do both of those things. I don't know why I do that. I'm the map reader and I turn maps around but we have never gotten lost!

Would not touch this question with a ten foot pole.... LMAO at everyone's answers, though... Would like to add, however, if putting the toilet seat down is such a horrendous issue, why do women not feel inclined to put it up after they are through??? NEVER did understand that one...

Yes brother an apology is in order. These are stereotypical notions of women which ppl who think for themselves & observe will not harbour.but bestsellers like 'Men are from Mars & Women from Venus' do deal with such issues dont they? and based on research. Men being too egoistical to ask for directions is one of them.

Males hunted to provide meat, which gained them sexual favours from the females, who gathered tubers, nuts, fruit and berries, and tended to gather together with the children while foraging, but were limited in how far they could go by the children and infants, so they were selected for multi-tasking, social skills (need help in childbirth) and sense of smell. The males ranged further, and needed to find their way back to the tribe, so they were selected for on that basis (among other things).
