On national geographic, they can show the entire bare breasts of women for minutes at a time and call it "indigenous nudity."

Yet, when Janet Jackson momentarily showed a star covered nipple , there was a big uproar.

Children have as much access to National Geographic as the superbowl.

This is a double standard that the western world has. Are they implying that the "indigenous" women are less human, so it's ok to show them naked like animals?

In The Undercover Economist, Tim Harford wrote (page 18) about the Green Belt of London, which helps keep rents and house prices in London higher than they would be. He said, "The Green Belt has made property in London scarce relative to the people who want to use it, and of course, strength comes from scarcity."

He went on to say "improved public transport increases the alternatives to renting a place in the city. When a two-hour commute becomes a one-hour commute, and peopole are able to get a seat on the train instead of standing, some decide they'd rather save money and move out of central London. Vacant apartments then appear on the market. Scarcity lessens, and rents fall."

I presume that commuter train services will only get better over time. If this assumption is true, do you think the property prices in London will also decrease as a result?

I really try to take criticism gracefully (especially with my art). Sometimes I worry that if I tweak my art too much, for too many peoples' suggestions, then my work might lose what makes it Mine.

How do you know when to listen to a certain person and when not to? (Besides obvious stuff like "if they're your teacher they want to help you" because we're all human)

PS I don't know where to put this so if you have a suggestion for category please let me know.

I had a (perfect) dream that I came in from a pool then went inside and was playing in this house I apparently lived in in my dream, but have never been in in real life. I was with my ex step sister who I haven't seen in a really long time, my younger brother, and my ex step brother who I also haven't seen in a long time.
They all went up stairs and I got a blanket because I guess it was cold. I went into the living room and there sits this finneee boy who looked practically like Dustin from B5 (lol, so what?! he's fine! ha). So he asks if I want to watch a movie and I said that I did. For some reason he had his shirt off. (Did I mention how much I loved this dream yet?)
So I sit down on the opposite side of the couch and he tells me to get closer, so I do. Eventually we're real close & sharing the blanket (I loved this dream!). Then I hear somebody say the number "62" and then (Unfortunately!) I woke up.

I only have tiny windows of time sporadically. I serve my home, family, community, but as a 'professional volunteer' there is no vacation time. I'm limited on funds and have run out of practical fun ideas that cost little or next to nothing. Thanks for your ideas.

It my experience it seems that most women expect a man (stranger) to hold a door open for her.(I've gotten dirty looks when I haven't). Yet, regularly have I have experienced women thoughtlessly let doors close in my face.

According to the following article it does:

http://www.healthscout.com/news/1/609234/main.html

"Women are more comfortable with the idea of childlessness than men, new research shows, and the surprise finding might really reflect differences in how each gender views the pressures of parenthood"

"1962 is the tail end of the Baby Boom, and there definitely was a feeling that having children was what everybody did. The attitudes were definite and specific. Those who couldn't were regarded with pity, and those who could but didn't were disrespected."

According to the article things have changed. Please read

Which is your opinion?

p.s. I was surprised by this article, therefore I am curious about what you all think. It is not a criticism about having or not having children.

Serious, how many times a week do you go without the cell, blackberry, iPhone and laptop? I "chitchat" via text, email and IM pretty much all day (whether is be work related to social), I find myself bored and antsy if I don't have someone to communicate with.

I am 31 years and haven't been in a relationship for 3 years. I am successful at my career and I'm well rounded. I am in decent shape. But women don't find me attractive. Most of them seem to view me from a diatance with fear and respect. Heck, I'm not even the "best friend" guy.
What do I do to remedy this?
I'm not religious, so church is out. I don't like volunteering or pets. My interests are mostly academic (philosophy, politics) and sports, and groups that deal with these are mostly dominated by men.

I'm a teetotaler, so I hate to go to bars as well.

I'm a college student with a part-time job in retail. I like my new supervisor, but she has significantly less cognitive ability than several members of her staff. I would estimate that her IQ is probably in the higher double digits (~85-95) while she has several staff members who are in the 130-160 range (students and professionals who just like working for the store.) However, she doesn't seem to realize the gap and often becomes agitated when I try to explain things to her. I find myself having to slow down and explain things to her at a much simpler level, and even then she doesn't always get it.

How to handle this?

You know those times when a song just goes into your head and stays there for a really really long time and you get annoyed by it sometimes, or at other times you like the song and maybe you get used to it and eventually getting tired of it... But it still plays in your head until another song comes along and you find yourself listening inside your head all over again... The bad part would be if you don't like the song at all.

Why do songs get stuck in our heads? Is there some kind of psychological phenomenon behind this?
