What kinds of character and personality are favored by most people?

Ex : Smile easily, talk softly, speak politely, greet others first, using words showing care for others' feeling, etc

This is one of those things that varies so widely that I don't think you can get an answer.

There are so many preferences. I like a Kind and happy person, but know that others like direct and forceful.

This is answering a matter of personal human preference, and that's not possible.

As one person I know puts it: "ask 10 people for their opinions on something and you'll get 11 opinions, since one person will have changed their minds by the time the others are done."

i think all of those things are favoured by most people.

think about the opposites of your examples. they wouldn't favour those.
