Golden Girl- It is our loss that you won't be a poster on this site.
We us regulars are daily in an interesting scenario with THE gremlins.
For me it is but merely a little light hearted humour.
But sometimes it gets real and then I bite true and hard.
So, my advice is come on in.
Enjoy our company.
Regulars, men and women are nice.

Planet Aphasia- Despair not.
On this forum there exist but 3/4 Trolls.
They have numerous accounts.
But there are so few of them.
They pretend to be women, distraught men, you name it, the 3 of them will milk it.
So always remember 3 of them.
Answer when you feel you can.
And Welcome to GWS.

The middle ground is mutable.

The extremes, not so much.

Flying horse: Putting a sign up explaining what Woman's Studies is all about won't help. I used to work at a support site that had clearing defined forums and people still put stuff any old place---I know because it was my job to move incorrectly posted topics to the correct forums, then notify the posters of the moves and I did that 5-7 hours a day, seven days a week. I see other forums here at Yahoo Q&A where people don't seem to have a clue what should be included. Check out the philosophy area sometime.

I'm rather new here at Yahoo Q&A and so I'm still learning when to feed the trolls and when to let them hang in the wind. Unfortunately, they do represent a group of bias people who needs to hear from "the other side" once in a while---at least in my opinion. So when I do reply, I try to give them a serious answer that is based not solely on emotion. I figure they might actually learn something. I believe in miracles.

I just hope that no one would answer the inane questions. But we know that it is impossible as there are always new members. So many intelligent people have left, or seldom post. Some of the new intelligent posters in this category are already getting bored. I think that 85% of the questions have nothing to do with Gender Studies, at least in the book category it is clear, people talk about books!

Sometimes I think that putting a sign in this category about what is Gender Studies could help some understand about the topic...mhh....???.... no comment

Although the inane can be fun, I have noticed them getting deleted. I answered like five the other day that are no longer on here, but I guess I kept the points.

I will NOT answer the questions like "If Mellie and Blah Blah were in a giant pudding fight who would win" types though. God those are juvenile.

I just had one of my questions re-instated. It was reported by 3 trolls. I know this because all of them added me to their contacts. I blocked them, then I followed up with Yahoo, and they put my question back. It wasn't in this section, but, if we all make an effort, things could change here as well. I just ignore what I find infantile and report what is just plain mean or ignorant.

Why do yall answer blatantly misogynistic questions? This "feeding of the trolls" is what keeps these mom's basement lurkers around. Instead of a forum that encourages intellectual stimulation, it is an abscess of hate. And there is no one to blame but yourselves. I am passionate about GWS, but I won't waste my time here.
