Society seems to have the current propensity to focus on death, destruction, abuse, and generally all that is vile in the human condition.

In the face of this, how do those of us that prefer wellbeing, continue to keep our focus on things that feel good to think about?

If the world has everything in it, happy and not happy, then why all the focus on that which causes not happy? Would wise management make such choices?

Can anyone give insight into a certain type of self-harming pattern of behaviour please?

Such as potential motivations, or really any information you can give.

When self-harming occurs, it becomes a constant thought-pattern, going through the mind at least once an hour, and the injurt not occurring neccessarily in times of stress, but just as an almost enjoyable activity. Like thinking 'Hmm, I might go watch the Simpsons' except 'Hmm, I might go slash up my arms/take an overdose'.

Accompanied by suicidal thoughts.

Main focus being on a love of the scars, and a constant desire to look at the the marks left from cutting. When doing it, quickly bored of the bleeding part, and just wanting to be left with the marks.

A desire to 'accessorise' to self-harm - wanting to buy long-sleeved jackets and arm-warmers, for example.

Keeping it very private, but wishing to tell everyone around - never telling anyone except boyfriend, as regularly stripped by him anyway.

we never know how high we are
till we are asked to rise
and then if we are true to plan
our statures touch the skies
the heroism we recite
would be a normal thing
did not ourselves the cubits warp
for fear to be a king

More than often, some (described as) beautiful young females answer some questions, with un-proportioned hostility. Astonishing expressions of anger and rejection of humanity. Is it possible that in some civilized areas, politeness is just considered to be a recessive expression of the ugly? Do you identify with this kind of behavior? Or were you a victim of such reckless behavior?

i dreamt that i was running away from this person (whom i don't know) and at one point i just gave up horror and went to him and said: "ok.. u wanna kill me? just do it!!" for my surprise, he didn't hesitate and he pulled the trigger!!!!!!
i didn't feel pain.. i just felt some wetness in my chest (but i didn't look so i didn't see the blood) and i felt that i was also bleeding through my nose.. i knew i was dying but in my dream i was wondering if i will also be dead in real life (apparently i knew it was just a dream) but i was really scared that i might be dead in real life too..
i said a few threatening words to the guy before i fell down dead.. !!!
and i don't recall waking up immediately after that!
i was wondering what this could mean..

There was a Super Bowl that depicted a robot welder in an auto plant being fired for making a mistake and then was unable to find a good job and eventually jumped off a bridge. A Suicide Prevention Group claims this will cause people to jump off of bridges. Is this a valid point, or political correctness carried to the extreme of stiffling humor or speech?

Why are some people feeling the need to come into the womens studies section, and ask questions about abortion, when its less about wanting to know, and more about wanting to harrass the women on here? Its none of your business if someone wants to have an abortion, and shame on anyone who would try to force off their religious beliefs onto others, and even more shame on the people who like to mix religion with politics, by trying to get the government to put their noses where they dont belong. Are you also the same group of people who are all for changing the constitution and defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman? I'll tell you what, abortion is alot better than bringing up children in a world full of crazies who refuse to let people live their lives in peace.
