I'm not sure. I've wondered that myself.

In my opinion, a sexually liberated woman is not someone who sleeps with men indiscriminately. It's someone who is comfortable with herself and her sexuality, and who is not afraid to define what she wants and then go for it.

Therefore, a sexually liberated woman could have one partner or 100 ... and either way (or anywhere in between), she should be celebrated for knowing her mind and her heart.

definite, they are. actually, an complete air of mystery of sacralisation surrounds being pregnant, motherhood, women human beings & children, etc. also see this quite regularly on right here - human beings will say 'moms are the superb ones to elevate children' - yet even as pressed to describe why, previous breastfeeding, they couldn't say why they imagine a guy does not be almost as good at this, or why they think about fathers extra expendable than moms. this body of innovations is standard in quite some cultures and feeds into different inequalities between men and females human beings - fathers are a lot less probably to press for custody after divorce (a minimum of 70% are uncontested) and there is a lot less encouragement for this to regulate, as a social actuality. men will also internalise this ideology by technique of wondering the youngsters are 'extra effective off' with their mom, or that they does not prefer to deprive the mummy of custody. that's like there is an assumption that except a mom is quite, quite undesirable, she ought to acceptable now be the superb man or woman to parent children :-)

The other answers have their validty, but let's not forget the biological aspect.
In most social species, males go to great lengths to preserve their mating prerogatives. They don't want the females with which they mate to go about mating with other males, thus bringing the paternity of any offspring into question. The male wants to be assured that the offspring are in fact his.
This is an instinctive behavior, and only the most naive among us can doubt that animal instincts persist in us today, for better or worse, however overlain with social custom they may be.
(I could, in fact, lay out a whole dissertation on the matter, but I won't bore you with it.)
Suffice it to say that a woman who does not conform to traditional sexual mores is pushing against not only social custom but certain deep-seated instincts. Whether they are justifiable and relevant in the current context or not, they are there.

It depends. Sometimes "sexually liberated" is merely a codeword for "whore." A woman who sleeps with truckloads of men outside of monogamous relationships is not someone to be respected (nor would a man, quite obviously).

As for being judged harshly, one of the other answerers nailed it: it's mainly women who criticize other women for it. Guys, for the most part, don't care (or approve depending on what they're looking for). Women, however, view whores as bringing down the "price" of sex for everyone else. If a man can get an easy lay from your average tramp at a club, why would he bother jumping through tons of hoops to get into a prude's pants?

Not all women are consciously aware that this is why they dislike loose women, but a little self-reflection can often open eyes.

I think it has something to do with the subconcious of us, men. Without knowing we want to dominate women. Its a picture that is still very persisting in lots of cultures. Any woman who challenges this stereotype, is seen by men as a treat. And that's why the liberated women are judged in a negative way. Also many women have the tendency to critizize each other, any woman who is a little bit different is more likely to receive negative comments by other women.

I've been told it has to do with men's natural instinct to "spread his seed" and women's natural instinct to make a home. I'm not sure I agree with it, but it's an interesting idea. I personally think it has something to do with the way that we're raised. Boys are taught young to go after the girls and they're rewarded for succeeding. Men are proud of their sons when they realize they can get the girls to notice them. Girls, on the other hand, are taught to fear boys and we're trained to be ladylike, which means, in my opinion, being prudish. Pay attention to the way a father raises his sons and his daughters. The boys are encouraged to start dating or experimenting young, while the girls are told from the time they're old enough to listen that boys are only after one thing. It's a double standard, I know, but it's the truth.

I think it's a double standard. I see everywhere, women have to be sexual, but when they are, they are looked down on. I also think guys don't like what they can't control. I'm being honest. Don't like it? Tough. Women in some ancient societies were allowed all the sex they wanted.

do you mean dykes, sluts, what?

Because they're so screwed up they can't get even get the gender stuff sorted out, or don't care who they screw if there's a profit in it?

need to be more specific.

But hey, all is forgiven if they make a video with well-hung clowns or strap-ons and stuff that male losers can jerk off to.

Funny how life imitates art, ain't it? Or is the other way around? Best we ask the dykes and sluts. They're sure to know. If it's funny or not. I mean.

Well maybe not. Maybe there's nothing that's funny anymore. All the world's a stage and we're all the jerkoffs on stage you wasted a trip uptown to pretend to laugh at because you wanted to get in your date's pants and you knew morose people never do, no matter how much justification they have for being that way.

Take Ellen DeGeneres.......PLEASE.

I'll take the blond from "Volcano."

cuz, even though she may feel sexually liberated, there's no such thing as long as women as a group are objectified everywhere you turn. (the media, advertising, strip clubs, porn, sex trade, etc). you can't really get free from society.

I don't have much respect for someone who sleeps around, male or female. Sex is meant to be an act of love between husband and wife, and when you have the morals of an alley cat it cheapens it.
