Why are some people feeling the need to come into the womens studies section, and ask questions about abortion, when its less about wanting to know, and more about wanting to harrass the women on here? Its none of your business if someone wants to have an abortion, and shame on anyone who would try to force off their religious beliefs onto others, and even more shame on the people who like to mix religion with politics, by trying to get the government to put their noses where they dont belong. Are you also the same group of people who are all for changing the constitution and defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman? I'll tell you what, abortion is alot better than bringing up children in a world full of crazies who refuse to let people live their lives in peace.

BRAVO!

YOU ARE CORRECT IN YOUR OBSERVATION THAT THEIR SOLE PURPOSE IN POSTING IS TO USE THIS FORUM AS A SOAPBOX. THEY ARE NOT EVEN REMOTELY INTERESTED IN HEARING FROM 'THE OTHER SIDE' - THEIR MINDS ARE MADE UP ALREADY.

AGAIN, BRAVO!

The political view is addressing where does life start. This is not the issue. What these politicians fail to address is whether the parents-to-be can actually support these children and the psychological toll that factor will have on the future child. I personally feel that the child should not pay the price for a certain situation, plauged by either mistake or bad choices, he or she had nothing to do with. Sometimes Condom sense makes all the difference.

I think you ask a good question. It is a tough question... but it is a good one.

I support your point of view. Knowing that, I think I can take the hostility away from the other point of view and express it in a somewhat logical way. People who are Pro-Life believe that life begins at conception. It is a fair view to have, when you do not factor in other societal factors. I mean, when DOES life begin? Who really knows? Pro-Life people say conception, and there really is no biological way to argue against it that is not biased. Ok. That said, they therefore believe that if you kill a fetus, you are committing murder. I am not saying I agree with them, but that is what they feel. Personally, I have no idea.

Now consider this: if you believed that someone was killing an innocent baby, would you not feel hostile about it? Would it not make you very angry? Would you not feel compelled to attack people verbally for committing murder to an innocent child? Would you not want to change the law to fix it? So how can you blame them for coming on here and making a fuss? They believe that murder is being committed.

That said, you are also justified in feeling the way you do. You understand the other side to abortion. You understand the social situation of many women, and the unfairness of their circumstances. You understand the pain and suffering that many women suffer by being in a situation where they are pregnant from being raped or drugged or who knows what else. You also recognize the political bridge that lays before many (but not all) Pro-Life and Pro-Choice people.

The two points-of-view are totally incompatible, and it is impossible to not feel strongly about it, regardless of what side you are on. There is little you can do about it aside of educate people on your point-of-view and hope for the best. Personally, I think if we spent as much time fighting over whether abortion itself should be legal, and put that time and energy and money into eliminating the environmental circumstances that cause women to seek abortions in the first place, we'd eliminate abortion without stepping on anyone's toes. When you're dealing with people who believe that abortion in murder, however, it is hard to step around it. Like I said, it is a really tough question to ask! I admire you for asking it.

Interesting point of view.

Why change the constitution? Well, it seems that we have many judges who now have discovered that the constitutions guarantees certain rights that have never existed before such as the right to an abortion or gay marriage. Since it is nearly impossible to get rid of activist judges, changing the constitution seems to be one of the better ways in dealing with the problem to some people. .

Personally, I think it would be much better if these judges were impeached and removed from office, reasserting the rule of law and legislature. That way our elected officials would have to decide what the law is, rather than the arbitrary decision of some activist judge. Finding "new" constitution rights is the very essence of tyranny. It is the essential component of democracy that changes in laws are debated by the populace and our representatives, not dictated from unelected judges. If you support gay marriage and abortion rights, you should have to persuade a majority of Americans to your point of view to change the law.

As far as abortion goes, why should we who oppose it be silent about something we believe is murder? If you knew you next door neighbor was hunting down and murdering children would you say something or would you stay silent? I would hope you would speak up.

you've said it and it shows this world is full of crazies! but everyone has their own opinion. I was neutral about this subject even though I never thought I will personally ever do that. But I kept hearing stuff about women's body and right, what if a women was raped....blah blah etc. Until I saw a video about a baby in a fetus and then being brutally killed. It made me cry because I think everyone has a purpose and its sad to destroy a life like that.

It's ok if they are simply trying to start a dialog and maybe understand the other point of view. It's a polarizing topic and many want to understand how much of the population feels a certain way.

People who just enjoy getting others riled up are called trolls.

Trolls have existed since the beginning of chat groups.

They gain a perverse pleasure in attacking a group and then standing back and watching the fun.

These people are usually immature pseudo intellectuals who think that the rest of the world would think like them if they were just more intelligent.

YOU ROCK!
i'm so sick of all the judgemental control freaks on here that know nothing of anyone's particular situation, yet call women who get abortions 'whores' 'sinners' 'murderers' etc. they don't even TRY to consider a situation, everything is so b&w to them. i'd like to see how they'd like having the extra 46 million unwanted children to take care of... are there that many people on the waiting lists to adopt? i doubt it. how many people would want to adopt a child with birth defects? or a child addicted to drugs?
self-righteous posers.

I wouldnt want my kids to grow up in a world full of crazies like you but I sure as hell wouldnt kill them for it.
