I've said in other Q&A that my husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer that went to his brain and kidney. They found it when he started getting bad headaches that wouldn't stop. He was given 6 months if he was lucky to live. Well that has been almost 3 years ago. Here is my question. Someone I know has a husband diagnosed with the same cancer, treated the same and this one hasn't spread anywhere however he is going fast. She seems angry at me because my husband is surviving his death sentence. What can I do or say in my situation? I'm being supportive and not talking about my husband and his success. I am focused on her life when visiting.

A group of friends of mine were discussing things that we have done in our lives that we most regret. During the conversation one of the ladies stated that she had done tons of things she wasn't proud of and regretted highly, though these things have resulted in her learning valuable life lessons. She did not wish to give us any info on what things she was referring to, though she did say that she wants to talk about her "life events". Of course another woman in the group immediately suggested she should talk to a psychiatrist while another woman said that she should create a blog under an anonymous name to share her story and help anyone who has gone through something similar.

So that made me think... can a blog be used to help someone get a tough issue off their chest or should something like that be left to a trained professional?

How can a socialist justify buying a lottery ticket when the lottery takes from the many and gives to the few (The mirror opposite of socialism).
As 90-odd per-cent of people have bought NL tickets, can we presume that socialism is all but dead in this society?

Serious questions deserve serious answers.

Puerto Rico has one of the most dynamic economies in the Caribbean region. Plantation sugar production dominated Puerto Rico's economy until the 1940s. Industry has surpassed agriculture as the primary sector of economic activity and income. Encouraged by duty free access to the U.S. and by tax incentives, U.S. firms have invested heavily in Puerto Rico since the 1950s (U.S. minimum wage laws apply). As a result, Puerto Rico's export and import has prospered, nearly doubled between fiscal years 1987 and 1997.

Recently the economy has suffered budget cuts from U.S. The Puerto Rican economy has depended heavily on the tax incentives given to U.S. mainland companies and on federal transfers. In 1993, President Clinton aimed to cut the Section 936 tax exemption for U.S. companies and introduced legislation to Congress to replace it with a more modest tax credit linked to wages paid by those companies in Puerto Rico rather than to profits.

my boyfriend, who on the outset would be described as outgoing, funny and sociable has recently confided in me that social situations fill him with dread to the point that he lies awake at night worrying about the prospect of meeting people. This came as a shock to me as he is not a shy, retiring kind of person. For example he told me that even meeting up with my family (who love him and he has met many times) fills him with dread, he worries about what he will say, how he comes accross, what they will think of him etc to the point that he is physically shaking at the prospect. It iosnt just my family, but he told me its all social situations that involve people. He wont seek advice, and my guess was that it was just anxiety that is feeding of itself, but I dont know what to say to him. Does anyone else suffer from this or have any advice?

I'm not an elitist or believe I'm a genius by the way.

How come intelligent (fact/science based, good sentence structure and vocabulary, thoughtful, logical/reasonable) questions, answers, and statements are so incredibly abhorred by people?

I mean, in a way beyond school subjects and not necessarily to do with subjects like religion. It's as if the possibility that one knows more and/or "different" subjects and their contents then they are to be outcasted even though the person does not direct outward negativity (calling others stupid or calling themself superior).

Well, apparently there is. . .?
a wrong-way to do somethimg right.

And, I did not plan that, honest. . .
How funny, freaky, and ironic was that?

(if you caught that, wink-wink, nudge-nudge)

Have a great day!

(I then added) Additional Details:
Well, for those of you who are curious. . .

I just posted a Q that read:
Is there ever a wrong-way to do something right?

And then, by some accident (?) it got posted twice!
How funny, and pleasantly-freaky was that. . .

Have a nice day, again. . .
And by the way, my question only ended-up here (somehow-?), I started-it in philosophy, again, strange but true. . . : )

I feel sad most of the time,i can also be irritable and feel angry over silly things. My eating habits are ok but i do tend to overeat at times, until the point where i feel sick. I sometimes feel like i'm in a daze and my mind feels slowed down. I have felt this way since my teens, and it gets worse when something bad happens. I find it hard to smile and i have trouble getting off to sleep at night. I thik about suicide and death alot too. What do you think?
