become more motivated in school? I'm 16 and I've always paid attention in class, but once it comes to doing work (especially homework and studying) I just pass it off like nothing. I have high test scores, but my overall average is about B/C because of homework and such. I don't see myself as a lazy person. I would openly admit it, believe me. I know that it will help me in the long run, and my grades will improve... but that just doesn't do it. What motivates you? Can anyone give me any tips or suggestions?

Which state would you award the nickname of most prejudiced state in America and why?

Me Personally, the state would be Mississippi. Because my forefathers come from there and I have heard some pretty gruesome stories about events that have happened there.

I am stuck in this predicament with no help of any kind.I have become disabled due to many medical problems. 1. I am Homeless 2. I am disabled due to multiple medical disabilities. Now here is the problem that I and many vets. have to deal with. I have gone to the homeless coordinator in Fayetteville Ar. VA Med center. For the first 60 days he directed me to the 2 Salvation Army's that house the homeless for 30 days then they have to leave. I, as others have gone to the homeless coord. at Fayett. VA med center along with all the Social workers seeking help for homelessness and the problem of being disabled and connot work. I am directed by these soc. workers and the homeless coord. that there is nothing they can do and that I have to sleep on the street. It seems that the only homeless veterans they can help are the ones that are employable. This seems to be backwards if I could work I would not need help but beings that I cannot work I need that Help, not sleep on the streets.HELP

- you never did a thing to anyone else your entire life, but were mercilessly picked on, put down, insulted, threatened, physically & emotionally abused, and shunned by others your entire life?

- you played by the rules, studied hard, graduated from college with good grades, invested tens of thousands of dollars in higher education, interned for no pay, and applied to HUNDREDS of companies after graduation -- AND HAVEN'T EVEN RECEIVED ONE INTERVIEW because employers don't want to give you a chance? And then they ask why there is such a large employment gap on your resume!

- girls don't give you the time of day (and even go out of their way to make you feel like sh!t), but you always watch them chasing after players, losers, lowlifes, and cheaters?

- everyone loves to see you suffer, laughs at every little mistake you make, and are never there when you are down because they cannot relate to all the sh!t you have endured in your life?

Does anyone else tend to live preoccupied with the future, even at times you're supposed to be thrilled? For instance, my friend and I drove to the grand canyon and once we finally arrived after a two day roadtrip, I could feel myself simply faking being moved, convincing myself that this was a great moment, and it made me realize that I couldn't really appreciate anything, I always just assumed I felt the way I was supposed to feel. Incoherent I know, but can anyone else relate?

People won't pull over and give a lift to someone walking along the side of the road in the rain for fear they're serial killers.

People will flee from a homeless person simply walking down the street, thinking only of themselves and never even viewing the person as human.

People won't help a child wandering around a mall crying on it's own because they'll "get sued for touching it".

You probably get the point.
We're all so quick to drop a buck in the charity plate, yet chances to help or even care directly aren't even considered.

Has humanity lost all individual compassion?

I have a friend, Luke ,whom I have just recently grown closer to. He is african american, he goes to Stanford University, he dresses very well, he's funny and basicaly a wonderfull person. He has been seeing this very nice woman, who happens to be white. The problem is that her mother just recently met Luke. At first her mother was excited to meet him. After all her daughter had just said she was dating a Stanford student, but she did not tell her mother Luke is african american. When her mother found out he was african american she became angry at her daughter. She does not want her daughter to date a "******" is what she said, right in front of Luke. Luke told me what she had said when he came over the other night. I couldn't tell how he felt about that. He did not want to continue to talk about it. I'm white I've never had to deal with racism aimed at me. I don't know what he is feeling or how to help. Advice?
