Does anyone else tend to live preoccupied with the future, even at times you're supposed to be thrilled? For instance, my friend and I drove to the grand canyon and once we finally arrived after a two day roadtrip, I could feel myself simply faking being moved, convincing myself that this was a great moment, and it made me realize that I couldn't really appreciate anything, I always just assumed I felt the way I was supposed to feel. Incoherent I know, but can anyone else relate?

Yes.

What inspires one will not always inspire another.
Sometimes we are overswhelmed with the moment to even begin to react to it. Sort of like shock or a deer in headlights moment. Other times it may be just the the connection isn't there. The awe inspiring moment did not yield within you an awe or even an ooh.

Bad timing? Too consumed with your own concerns? Not able to let go and enjoy the moment? Depression? Loss of energy or drive?

Some of it may be overcome by sheer effort on your part and willingness to let yourself go. But for some, there may be a medical condition to explain it and a chemical balance needed to help you see the world through the eyes of your inner child again.

Don't give up on yourself. You have not lost your humanity.

When I was young, late teens to mid twenties, I didn't appreciate the little things like the beauty of the grand canyon either. Now that I am nearing 40, I notice I have started to appreciate the little things a little more. At the age that your at, (I read your other posts and seen your 19), I think you are normal not to appreciate things yet, and I think its' great that your even wondering why your not appreciating them right now. Don't worry about it. It will come in time, you will see.

I consider maximum of what you reported besides the undeniable fact that the reason people are not being jailed is because there is purely not sufficient space contained in the prisons. yet another college of idea is that reformatory does not something except coach criminals the thanks to dedicate extra crime, some even call prisons 'Universities of Crime'. Thinks are going downhill worryingly quickly yet i don't believe of reformatory is the answer. mutually I do agree that we are far too lenient on those people. In my section there has been a collection of youths causing all sorts of complications and dealing with the approach even to get them a (likely ineffective) Asbo is taking perpetually. I favor I knew the answer. by how, I also agree about the human rights twaddle in this us of a, everybody except the innocuous receives protection. solid one, Tony.

Unlike a previous answer I think it is worse when you get older. The thrill goes out of Christmas, birthdays, weddings. The joie de vivre goes and it is sad. That is why so many people drink or take drugs to recapture some of the feelings but it doesnt work for long, sad i know but true :(

you need to get out of your head. clear your mind of thoughts and focus on what your senses are sensing. that is what is the now is what you sensing in your environment. its kind of like a reality check, smell the air, really look at what you see, feel what youve forgotten your feeling (like your clothes or your chair), close your eyes and listen. good luck
