It depends on what gender you are, too. Being assertive for males is different than being assertive for females. Wait, that's not true. They way to be assertive is the same, but men are expected to be and women are called b*tches if they are assertive.

So, basically, watch some manly man for awhile and see what he does with his body, with his eyes, how he talks to people and you'll learn how to be assertive. You'll also sometimes learn how to be a jerk, too. But they can go hand in hand.

Assertiveness has to do with whatever situation you're in but it's basically about not being rude but being true to yourself. Let's say you went out for dinner and you ordered an iced tea but the waiter came back with root beer. You can just say in a calm manner, this is not what I ordered to the waiter.
