American Idol is an idiot!
Short term depression is normal. If you have depression that has lasted several weeks get to the Dr. before you sink so low and feel so bad that you do something you will regret.

You, in all probability, have a chemical imbalance that needs taken care of now. The problem is finding a good doctor who will diagnose you. Physicians are not expertly trained to help with all meds. Your doctor should send you to a professional who knows drugs. Now, the psychiatrists are experts. There are many who do not practice as psychiatrists and are in the medical field. These professionals know exactly you need. My physicians had me try over twenty anti-depressants and none worked. I finally was sent to a medical practitioner who was a psychiatrist but became a med. doctor just to help those who could not afford one. This doctor gave me the right meds at the first visit If you are young and your doctor denies your depression, call mental health agencies and they will help.

Yes when I split up from my husband of 23yrs & I found myself with no job than got deeper & deeper into depression keept to myself in my new place w/curtains all drwan down, widows shut. I would not talk to anyone but my daughter inlaw and praying to the Lord. Then After doing for over 3 mo. Then one day I got up in the morning & decided that nothing or no one in this world is worth giving up your life & dreams. The one thing I can tell you is that you have to love and be happy yourself & who you are in this life and remember that good or bad The Lord has his reason & purpose having you in this earth.Just keep doing everything that makes you feel good of who you are, be happy & put a smile on your face. Most of all live your life each day to the fullest & everything it has to offer. Good Luck - IslandKuuipo

Yeah, i'd been depressed when i was a kid but i keep my self busy like doing extra curicular activities and so on. Pray to God that he will help you and ask guidance from Him. All your worries leave it to God and Trust in Him and He will do the rest for you. Just sit down and relax and continue your life to move on. Eventually you will notice that all solved.

Try going to a empty room
Talk to yourself loudly about your state and ask what can you do to make yourself better.
Voila all the time - no not almost all the time- without exception all the time you get an answer to with your state of existence.

Clinical depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain - this ibalance WILL ONLY correct itself with proper medication, the body cannot do this on it's own, if you suspect you are depressed visit your Doctor

I actually suffer from diagnosed depression, but if your case is more serious like that, the best thing to do is talk to a doctor, and see if you can work out something, like counseling or therapy or medicine. Medicine and talking to a counselor wasn't really my thing. I cried so much my mom took me to a hospital, and needless to say, she threatened to take me back. I do my best not to cry in her presence now (it's more like, she trained me to stop). Here's what I did/do to help my depression:
-My brother bought me a kitten. She's the love of my life, and I adore her.
-I DO try and keep busy. Even if it means doing something I despise, like dishes.
-I go out and spend time with my friends as much as possible. I talk to them, confide in them, and cry on them. It's much better than a complete and total stranger, if you ask me. They've told me I can call them whenever I need to. Talking with somebody, REALLY helps. Trust me on that one.
-I try to keep my mind off the things bothering me. But depending on what it is and what the problem is, it might be better to solve the problem. Mine's an ex, and he doesn't like to make things easy. So, I try to avoid him at all costs, and I don't even think about him. Thus, I keep busy, to keep my mind off him.
-I've taken up new hobbies and tried new activities, things I never thought I'd try. Again, keeping busy.
-I exercise and try to think of a positive goal to reach or something in my life I'd like to change, and I focus on changing it.
-I try to spend more time outside when the weather is good. Sunshine makes me feel hopeful.
-I keep a journal. I try to avoid bad subjects.
-I cry when necessary.
-I took medication for awhile, but depression medicine wasn't really my problem. I have anxiety medication, because when I start to panic or worry, it makes me cry.
Everyone is different, and I really hope you find what helps you cheer up and cope best. I've found that laughing with (or crying on) my best friend in the world, and seeing my cat's face are the things that help me most. I wish you the best and good luck.
